Handstand Kids Mexican Cookbook Kit
We love to cook with the kids in this Crazy Mom’s house and my Tween was super excited when the Handstand Kids “Mexican Cookbook arrived. The book comes jam packed with 52 pages of recipes, instructions, ideas and info all around the Mexican cuisine.
The book is awesome, it’s written by Yvette Garfield and Illustrated by Kim DeRose and the recipes are edited and developed by Cricket Azima. This is just a wonderful cookbook that can be enjoyed by any age, the pictures make it easy for the little ones to understand and help with dinner.
I love how the book goes into a story about Chef Aaron Sanchez who grew up in an Mexican Family and the love of food and the wonderful family traditions that he experienced while growing up; the book then goes on to show utensils in English and Spanish and even explains some well known Ingredients in English and Spanish. The book also has a recipe level that is measured by avocados, the more avocado the more advanced the dish and you may need help from an adult.
After each recipe there is also an alternative suggestion, which I really loved. The book is bright and vibrant in colors that just want you to pick up the book and read it from front to back and create every dish in it along the way.
Who are the Handstand Kids?
The Handstand kids are made up of 6 kids from different parts of the world, they help you cook and create the delicious dishes in their book. The love of cooking clearly comes through in this amazing book. This is our first encounter with the Handstand Series and I can not wait to pick up the remaining books that are currently available.
The Handstand Kids Cookbooks are the perfect recipe for kids to learn how to cook, while discovering the people, places and language of a new country. This is the second book in the Series and as you already know they travel through Mexico.
The book is divided into different sections from All Kids Love to Nutritious & Delicious, Mexican-ize My… and Save room for…., each section is full of yummy recipes, ideas and history. We loved it!!!!
I also love that the recipes include the Spanish words for the ingredients, teaching the little ones Spanish without even knowing it… wonderful idea.
The Tween wanted to cook dinner and he choose the Chicken Tostada.
We adapted the recipe a bit, we didn’t have an Tostada Shells, so we made our own out of Soft tacos, fried them in a pan crisp on each side. We also substituted the Chicken with Ground Beef.. see, it’s simple to make a change.
