Wallie Exercises written by Steve Ettinger, C.S.C.S. and the art is by Pete Proctor

Wallie was a magnificent mutt, calm and cool not crazy, loving and faithful from head to tail- but also a bit lazy. The stories main character is Wallie a mostly wonderful dog, but his super laziness has become a problem. So his boy convinces him to go on an adventure to get fit. With a little help from a big friend, Wallie learns how to exercise. Will he enjoy the change from pudgy pup to healthy hound or will he return to his lazy ways? This book will teach your little ones important fitness concepts while following Wallie on his hilarious journey to get in shape. This book even has a special section with more information and original exercises, performed by Wallie himself, sure will be a hit with your little one and even get the laziest kid excited about exercising.

Kids nowadays have more PC games and hand held games than outside toys and it’s so important to get your little tike off the couch an out to play. This book will encourage your little one with fun and exciting story and wonderful illustrated pictures to get moving. The fun part about this book, it doesn’t start out that he was this buff dog who has a perfect body, I love to see that he actually struggled just like any of us if we start exercising today. Then gradually with a lot of convincing and encouragement you are able to see how Wallie got fit and started to like his new exercise routine. This book also encourages children to try their own moves, if you can’t or don’t want to follow someone else’s exercise instructions, don’t you can come up with your own as long as you keep moving and get the exercise your body needs.. I loved that part. My Tween and my Toddler both enjoyed this book, the toddler was a bit young to understand, but still loved to sit and check out the pictures and listen to the story, the Tween on the other hand really enjoyed the story behind and he really liked the “Elephant”…

A wonderful encouraging book that I would highly recommend to any one that is trying to get their kids off the couch and give them some encouragement on why it is so important to exercise as well as the basic instructions to stay fit, like stay hydrated, eat healthy and of course exercise. This book would also be a lot of fun to read in a class setting and work it in your PE curriculum.
