Celebrate Advent is a wonderful Book . We started a new tradition this year. Starting on December 1st we will read one story out of this book before bed time and each night after the story my Toddler gets to hang up one of the ornaments that are included in the book, on our small tree in the living room.
Celebrate Advent was written by Judith Vicary Swisher and Illustrated by Nancy Middlebrook Baay, this book won the Bronze Award “Young Voices Foundation 2009. The book has 25 legends and the matching ornament to go along with each legend. This book will tell you the legend about the manger, Santa Claus, the Holy Thorn, the Star and many more that are part of Christmas, do you know the story of the Christmas rose??
All the legends and stories in this book are written for children to understand and read. Very kid friendly and will not take you long at all to read with your little one each day leading up to Christmas. But it is so informative.
I know this book will be a memory in the making for a long time to come and will be a tradition that I would like to keep alive with my toddler and then her children down the road. This would make for some great tradition in your home, too.
My toddler truly enjoys this book each night and asks for it before bedtime, she also asks questions while we are reading the book. I just love it. I can’t say enough about this wonderful book. You should check it out and see for yourself.
Here is the Book Description:
Each story in this unique Advent collection is accompanied by colorful illustrations and matching ornaments, reflecting God’s use of ordinary people, plants, birds, and animals to herald the birth of Christ. The ageless tales reflect the celebrations in many countries, including England, Russia, Syria, Mexico, and Poland. This storybook answers questions such as “Why does the robin have a red breast?” and “Why are rosemary flowers blue?” These stories can be read one per night during Advent with children choosing their favorites each time. The ornaments can then be stored year to year in the book pockets provided.
You can buy this book on Amazon.com, Barnes & Nobles.com or send an e-mail HERE ; for more information please visit Celebrate Advent Book
