Ohhh we love a good movie night and on February 24th they will finally release Hero 6 on DVD/Blu-Ray and you bet I will be first in line at Walmart to grab my very own copy. I saw the movie in Theaters and cannot wait to watch it again at home. Did you know that if you purchase the Big Hero 6 Blu-Ray/DVD + Gift with Purchase Set at Walmart it includes a digital movie on Vudu while supplies last! Simply scan your receipt using the Savings Catcher in the Walmart app. Then look for a message on your phone or email. Now you can watch Big Hero 6 on any device! How cool is that?
We love Disney movies and this one is another fun one to watch. You will not be disappointed. When we have a movie night you already know that we like to make fun snacks to go along with the movie, it’s kind of a family tradition and with the Big Hero 6 release that’s not going to be any different. I got my thinking cap on and got busy.
This time I went all out and made a few fun snack ideas, now these are not in any way healthy or perfect, but they are fun and perfect to go along with the movie, every so often it’s ok to splurge and after all, its movie night, you have to have some junk food, right?
We made a few different snack ideas that are all simple and can be interchanged and you can get them done in no time. I think it took me like 15-20 minutes to make. The kids are super excited for the premier of Big Hero 6 in our living room on February 24th, 2015. I had to hide my snacks or they would have been gone long before our movie night!
To make your very own Baymax cookies, this is what you need:
-
1/2 package Oreo cookies, flavor of your choice
-
1 cup white chocolate chips
-
black food coloring gel
-
1/2 tablespoon coconut oil (or any kind of oil)
This is how to make the Baymax cookies:
-
Melt white chocolate chips and coconut oil in microwave at 30 seconds intervals and mix well, took me about 90 seconds till all was nicely melted and incorporated.
-
Dip Oreo cookies into the melted chocolate, place on cookie sheet to get firm again (I placed mine in the freezer for a few minutes)
-
Draw Baymax face on the cookie once the chocolate is hardened.
Since the storyline is based on a city called San Fransokyo and for some reason it made me think of Sushi, could have been that one of the characters is called Wasabi, I made some candy sushi rolls, too. Super simple and the kids loved them. So if you can’t make your kids to eat the real sushi rolls, which would have been really good to go along with the movie, too… make them these candy sushi rolls and they will love you!
This is how to make the Rice Krispies Sushi Rolls:
-
1 package of Jet Puffed Marshmallows
-
3 tablespoon butter
-
6 cups Rice Krispies
-
Fruit rollups
-
Gummy fish
This is how to make the Sushi Rolls:
-
Melt butter and marshmallows in a sauce pan
-
Mix Rice Krispies into the marshmallow mixture
-
Roll out your fruit rollups and spread Rice Krispies/marshmallow mixture onto Fruit Rollup
-
Roll into sushi, cut into pieces.
-
For the Sushi square, take the Marshmallow Rice Krispies mixture and place it into a glass dish, let set for a few minutes, cut into squares, top with gummy fish and add a strip of Fruit Rollup
If you are throwing a movie party, you also need a drink; we love to have a special drink with our movie parties. Our special Wasabi drink was super easy to make and the kids loved it, giggled the entire time.
Make your own Wasabi Movie Drink, this is what you need:
- 1 cup of green fruit drink like Fruit Punch
- 1 scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream
- 2 candy eyes (in the cake decorating section)
This is how to make the Wasabi Movie Drink:
- Add your fruit juice to a glass, add scoop of vanilla ice cream and the ice; serve immediately
- Enjoy!!!
There you have a few of our very own Big Hero 6 movie snack ideas and I bet they will make for a great movie night at your house, too. I just love those Baymax Oreo cookies- those are so simple and would be great at any Big Hero 6 birthday party this year. You have some really adorable ideas. My niece loves making rice krispie sushi too and I’m sure we will be doing it for our screening of this film! #client
