I probly don’t have to say too much about Clifford, everyone knows Clifford the big red dog. He sure is a favorite in our house and let’s be honest, his shows and stories are excellent for a Toddler and pre-schooler to listen and learn.
The First new Episode we watched was all about a dog that came to visit, he clearly had different rules and ideas then what Clifford and his friends had. He even got Clifford, yup our Clifford, in trouble a few times by talking him into doing things that weren’t just right. Soon Clifford being the Clifford we know, took responsibility and decided that if the new dog would like to play with Clifford and his friends, he would just have to follow the rules that Clifford has been following all along. Clifford showed the new dog that following rules doesn’t have to boring and it can be fun….It took Clifford a little bit of courage to stand up to the new dog, but in the end he did it and it all worked out great.
The Second new Episode was fun, and something a lot of school age kids can relate to. I don’t know about you, but I don’t handle change too well, so imagine 1st graders getting the news that their beloved teacher is getting married and now has a different name. Children worry, will she be the same person, what if she is now like her new name “Grumbly”. Children can be thrown out of their normal environment very quickly with small changes like these, this episode was wonderful to show children that yet a small change like a name change doesn’t mean the person is completely different, the children learned that yet Ms. Carrington is now Mrs. Grumbly, she is still the sweet person they knew… therefore don’t judge people before you meet them. Wonderful story that will help a lot of little ones out and help them understand that change is a normal thing but not to worry.
Check out your local listings for the new episodes of Clifford the Big Red dog and while you are there, I’m sure you can set your DVR for some of the older ones as well.
