I love Christmas time… all the different smells in the air…. missing only one thing here in Florida.. SNOW!!!….
Baking Christmas cookies is a big Family Tradition. My Mom even sends me some of hers from Germany, ohhh … we always made cookies weeks before Christmas and about 20 different kind and then Christmas Eve came around and we didn’t had any left.. they were soo yummy…
Being a busy mom, as most of you are, I don’t have time to come up with fancy cookie recipes, so here is an easy, cheap and yummy recipe and it is best enjoyed with a HOT cup of cocoa ( or Gluhwein… *smile*).
My Cookie recipe for today is: Vanilla Spritz Cookies
How to make:
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Combine the butter and the granulated sugar in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer set on medium speed, beat until light and fluffy
- Beat in egg, vanilla extract, cardamon and salt. Using a spoon, stir in flour until well mixed.
- Pack the dough into your cookie press, press dough out onto ungreased baking sheet, spacing the cookie 1 inch apart.
- Bake until lightly golden, about 10 minutes. Let cookies cool on a wire cookie rack, than they are ready to decorate or eat the way they are….
MHHHH soo yummy… Enjoy…..
I must admit, this was the first time I ever used a cookie press. I was send a Kuhn Rikon cookie press, and I really liked it. It was easy to fill with the cookie dough, the kids did all the pressing and had a ball., easy one handed I may add. Once we had all our cookies on the cookie sheet, clean up was a breeze. The cookie press was easy to take apart and every piece was easily cleaned. However the manufacture recommends not to put it in the dishwasher, it may discolor, but it is so simple to just hand wash it real quick.
I can’t believe that it took me so long to try one of the cookie presses. So simple to use and make beautiful cookies. I wasn’t really reading the directions and greased my cookie sheet so my cookies didn’t turn out perfect, but the taste was still wonderful and we had a lot of fun as a family baking cookies.
The Boys are already planning more cookie ideas and creations, and can’t wait to make our next batch…
