Crock Pot Thursday: Creamy Cheesy Potatoes

January 13, 2011 By Melanie Roberts Leave a Comment

A little late, but better late than never:-) Things are not getting any quieter around the Crazy Mom’s house… so our Crockpot this week was a welcome change for me. I just love when I can get supper ready while I’m at work and come home to a nice home cooked meal…..

We had Creamy Cheesy Potatoes with Panko Chicken… was suuper yummy 🙂

Here is what you need:

  • 1 20 oz bag of frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 gloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 10ounce jar of Alfredo Sauce
  • 1 3 ounce package cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup of sour cream
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/2 milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

How to make it:

  1. In a Large skillet, melt butter and brown onions & garlic, set aside
  2. In medium sauce pan add Alfredo Sauce, sour cream, cream cheese, shredded cheese, milk and seasoning, stir on low head till you have a creamy cheese sauce
  3. Toss your Potatoes into the crockpot ( the recipe said to thaw the potatoes and drain, I didn’t do that and it was okay)
  4. Add the onions and the cheese sauce, close lid and walk away
  5. The recipe said to let it cook on low for 8-9 hrs; I would recommend leaving it on low for 6 hrs, or maybe only 5 hrs. 8-9 was wayy too long. It was still good, BUT….. it really could have cooked a little less…

Serve with Pork chops or fried chicken like we did… soo yummy.. the cheese/ Alfredo sauce was delicious…. yummo….

Enjoy….
