It’s Thursday… whohooo.. We had a busy week so this dinner was perfect; Hubby really wanted to make a Cuban Sandwiches.. well… I wasn’t really in the mood, but it turned out really good.
This is what you will need for the meat:
1 Pork Roast
1 bottle of Mojo ( can be found at just about any Grocery store even Wal-Mart has it)
1 Teaspoon Adobo
This is what you will need for the Sandwich:
1 French bread, Cuban Bread or anything assembling white Bread
Sliced Ham
Swiss Cheese, sliced
Mayo
Mustard
Pickles
This is how to make it:
-
Take the Pork, Mojo and the Adobo and toss into a crockpot; close lid and cook on low for 6-7 hrs or on high for 3-4 hrs.
-
Once the meat is done, cut in slices and assemble your sandwich, add Mayo, Mustard, Cheese, Pork, Ham and Pickles
-
If you like it pressed, add it to a Sandwich press or a Foreman Grill
So simple, yet different and yummy…. Here in central Florida we call these sandwiches Cuban’s, not sure if they are called that way everywhere or if you have different names for them…

Yummy I will have to make those sometime. Right now we are eating low fat stuff but maybe I can reduce the fat a bit? LOL I hope so, looks so delicious.
Melanie Roberts says
really not that bad, just find a lean piece of pork and low fat mayo etc.. you should be fine 🙂 after all you get to splurge sometime..right??

What size bottle of Mojo? The 12 oz one or the 24 oz one? I could only get the big one. Am I supposed to pour all of that in?
Melanie Roberts says
We usually use the 24oz bottle and put it all in.. my husband loves that stuff, but if you aren’t the biggest fan the 12 oz bottle will be fine, too..Hope this helps

I made this recipe and cooked it longer. When done, I pulled it into shreds with 2 forks. It was delicious!

soo glad you enjoyed it, too.. it’s a favorite in our home for sure…

Would Mojo Criollo work? Also would the pork cook well in a 7 quart crockpot?
Melanie Roberts says
Yes we use the Mojo Criollo often, we love it. It’s up to your taste, but it works well. I don’t see an issue if it’s in a 7 quart crockpot, if the meat has enough liquid to lay to cook that’s all that matters… give it a try, it usually will work out just fine.
