Dish up Simple Ham & Cheese Sticks for your New years Party this year #Recipe

Dish up Simple Ham & Cheese Sticks for your New years Party this year #Recipe

New Years Eve is always special tome; in Germany it always was a BIG party for everyone, unlike you have ever seen in the US. People will host parties for their family and friends every year and once midnight hits everyone, I mean everyone, will hit the road; no matter if rain or snow. The entire neighborhood will be outside, Champaign glasses and bottles in hand and everyone will shoot off fireworks, share drinks and wish everyone a Happy new year.. that can go on for hours, at least 2 for sure.

It’s always a lot of fun and my mom always prepared lots of snacks and finger foods for the party; I soo miss it every year. The sad part, since I’m in the US, I fall asleep before 10Pm every New Years Eve; hardly anyone in my neighborhood does any fireworks and no one that I know even goes to New Years Eve Parties either. That doesn’t keep me from preparing our snacks though and sharing them with my family; our traditional New Years Eve dinner is finger food and Cheese Fondue; every year!! It’s a tradition and we love it. Everyone gets to munch on snacks all night long; no fancy sit down dinner, just lots of fun, game night with the kids and then we all fall asleep.. haha.

This year when I prepared my Ham & Cheese sticks, I wanted to share them with my readers; they are so simple but soo delicious. They would be a hit at every party, breakfast table or just as a snack. Try them, you will love them as well.

Simple Ham & Cheese Sticks

Dish up Simple Ham & Cheese Sticks for your New years Party this year #Recipe

  • 1 package of Puff Pastry – Sheets, thawed and ready to use
  • 1 package of your favorite ham, cubed
  • 1 package of Cream Cheese
  • 1 cup of Cottage Cheese ( I used plain this time, but used flavored before and loved it, especially pineapple)
  • lots of shredded cheese, your favorite kind of whatever you have on hand

  1. In a blender, blend together the cream cheese and the cottage cheese; it will be a smooth filling
  2. spread the cream cheese filling on each puff pastry sheet; I like to place mine on aluminum foil, makes it easier to work with.
  3. Sprinkle ham & cheese (you could use different toppings as well, pepperoni, mushroom, pineapples.. ) on one puff pastry sheet; I love a lot of ham on these sticks, gives it a Smokey flavor and really good.
  4. Place the second Puff Pastry sheet over the one with the toppings, press down the sides

5.  Use a pizza cutter and cut the Puff Pastry sheet in strips; I also cut across the middle once to make smaller sticks; it’s up to you though.
6.  Once you have your strips; twist them into sticks.. super simple and takes no time at all.
7.
Place in the oven at 400F for about 15 minutes or till golden brown; be sure to place them on a greased sheet or on aluminum foil; or they will stick to the sheet.

These are good hot out of the oven or kept in an air tight container in the fridge for a few days. They sure will be a hit at your party; in my house they never last a day and I never have leftovers Sad smile.. they are just sooo good. The best part; they are so simple, we can make a new batch in no time.

Would love to hear what you would add to the Cheese Sticks and can’t wait to hear how your family liked them. Wishing you and everyone a Happy New year….

Like you, I am usually asleep long before the Ball Drops in New York (although to be fair, it drops at 10 p.m. in Arizona!). Your traditions are wonderful and I’m glad you are keeping them and sharing them with us!

I’ll have my grandkids spending New Year’s Eve with me. I’d love to make these with them. I think they’d enjoy it. I’m usually the only one who can stay up until midnight without falling asleep. We’ll see how they do this year.

We have never gone out on New Year’s Eve in our 30 years together! Unless the dog barks because of the fireworks going off, I usually sleep through it. I have always wanted to use puff pastry and this looks like the perfect recipe to try with! Thanks and belated Happy New Year!
