Christmas time is upon us and I love to make my own Christmas Gifts for family and friends. This year I was looking for something easy, affordable and quick. Let me tell you, I think I hit the jackpot!
I bought myself the new HP Deskjet 3632 All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner at Walmart a few weeks ago. I had used an HP for years and my old HP All-in-One finally decided to call it quits after like 6 years or longer. I was a little devastated, I loved my old HP but knew I couldn’t go without a printer for too long. I found the HP Desjket for under $50! The printer is currently on rollback, what a deal. Loved the white color, wish all electronics where white you wouldn’t see all the dust they accumulate.
Anyways, enough about shopping for a printer. I went home and had the printer ready to print in like 5 minutes. Best part… NO PC NEEDED! Yes, you heard me right. I hooked the printer up to my wireless home office network a/k/a my Wi-Fi router (everyone has one I’m 100% certain) and connected my iPhone (any smartphone android or iPhone will work) and I was ready to print. Simple as that! No cords either, besides the power cord. Of course you can hook up the printer to your PC as well or use the Wifi for your laptop.
Best part, I think the printer would be an awesome Christmas gifts for family out of town like even grandparents. Most have a cell phone, not all have computers and you know what’s cool. With your phone you can automatically send pictures, documents, printables like this Frozen Olaf Ornament or anything else you need to print to your printer or anyone else’s printer (if you have their e-mail account for the HP printer login, super easy to do, just follow the account settings for HP printer account) and whatever you print to that printer will print automatically and sit there waiting for you. How cool is that?
Imagine sending grandma the latest Christmas pictures minutes after you took them to her printer and they will wait there for her when she picks them up and she can put them in a frame right away? Isn’t that cool? So helpful for many other things, too.
So, I kind of got a little excited about the new printer, my little secret gem. I did tell you it can sit anywhere in the house, right? Yeah I sat on the floor crafting these super fun and easy Christmas Photo Ornaments. Took me and my daughter no time at all and thanks to wireless printing all my iPhone pictures that I liked, I was able to print with the HP App (iPhone and Android). 5 minutes max!
Let me share with you how easy these Christmas Photo Ornaments are really. You only need a few items, about 10 minutes of your time and you have gifts for the entire family OR you can decorate your own tree with them. Think adding pictures of the kids when they were little, the animals, grandparents loved ones no longer with us. The possibilities are endless and it’s a lot of fun. My daughter couldn’t get enough of making these ornaments and keeps asking to make more.
This is what you need:
-
Glass or plastic Christmas Ornaments – I used the larger size
-
Printed pictures from your HP Deskjet 3632 All-in-One Printer
-
Tape & yarn or ribbon
-
Fillers like “snow” or confetti, ribbon etc..
-
More ribbon or curly ribbon to hang your ornaments
This is how to make it:
-
Print all your pictures from your Smartphone using the HP ALL in One Printer App, choose the 4×6 paper size and the Wallet picture size; they fit perfect, may need to cut them just a tad to fit the ornament.
-
Fill your ornament with the filler of choice, I used some snow and Christmas confetti
-
Take 2 pictures and tape a ribbon/yarn on the backside of one picture, tape the 2nd picture on the back so you have a picture front and back now.
-
Roll your picture into a small tube and insert into the Ornament opening, holding the ribbon/yard outside the ornament.
-
Add the Ornament closure ~ Voila ~ You are done!
Isn’t this as easy as 1…2…3… ? So easy, super cute and can be customized to everyone’s likes and believes. Instead of a picture on the back of the picture you could tape a saying, a greeting or just even the name and the year. The possibilities are endless.
You can now wrap each ornament into a small box with tissue paper and wrap it up or mail it to your family and friends. They are so cute, and super easy to do. You can pick up all the items needed at Walmart during your shopping trip, so a win win for all.
Do you have any fun photo gift ideas? Are you planning on something fun for Family gifts this year? Would love to hear all about it so I get more ideas on how to give DIY gifts to my family and friends.

How do you cut them out what size
Melanie Roberts says
I printed them as wallet size pictures and then cut them out that size, you may need to cut a small sliver off on the side if your bulb is smaller, I used the larger clear plastic ornaments; hope that helps

Do it use a lot of ink and is it expensive?
Melanie Roberts says
it used very little ink, took only 30 seconds or so to print and the cost for the printer was under $50 and that included full size print cartridges. I bought my plastic ornaments for like $3 for a pack of 4, so not bad at all. I have the ornaments on my tree and on a window and everyone that comes to visit loves them, different but super fun and looks great.
