I’m part of the Restaurant.com #ReviewCrew and I was compensated for this post; however all opinions are 100% our own and no one influenced us in writing a positive review
Every Friday we eat out for dinner and every Friday I get that Text from my husband “What’s for dinner?”. Last time I told him dinner and a movie, he had no clue where and what, but I quickly reached to my trusted Restaurant.com App and checked out what they had to offer. To my surprise there was a new restaurant added to Restaurant.com and it was only like a mile from my house. I was totally surprised, I wasn’t in the mood for a long trip across town and I love to check out local restaurants, especially if they are so close in my neighborhood.
This restaurant was totally new to me and this was the first time I saw it on Restaurant.com, I knew we had to check it out and since we all love Pizza, this was my restaurant of choice for the evening. Lucky for us, right next to the restaurant was a shopping center with a redbox, so I had my Dinner and a Movie all in one swoop.
I love to call my Pizza order ahead of time an thanks to the quick restaurant.com online purchase, my certificate was ready to use instantly. Love when I find a deal when I’m ready for a deal! Restaurant.com will do just that; whether you are on the go and looking for a restaurant in your area, during your travels or while visiting friends in a different state, restaurant.com is you buddy along for the ride, pick, choose, order the certificate and you are ready to place your order or walk into the restaurant, all within minutes (well… if you don’t count driving distance to your newly found dinner place…lol…).
Did you know that Restaurant.com has been filling tables since 1999 and is the destination for dining whether you like to plan ahead or find a meal on the go. Restaurant.com helps diners discover the perfect dining experience and boasts nearly 50,000 dining deals available every day, even on the weekends! And, the deals are easy to use – present the certificate to the server on a mobile device, or print out a copy, and voilà – the savings will be deducted from your final bill. Bon Appétit!”
So I placed my order over the phone and we were looking for 2 large and one small pizza to feed the family of 5 and that was around 5ish, right after I got home from work. The employee that took my order quickly asked if we are sure and not rather order a different item from the menu, which I thought was odd. It was a Friday night and I wanted my Pizza, but ok, when I told her that we really had our taste buds ready for Pizza she announced that it would be about 70 minutes before I can pick it up. Well, okay, I agreed, after all that was still shortly after 6pm and wouldn’t be a problem at all. I could run a few errands before heading to pick up dinner, like checking out the movie place to get some entertainment for the evening.
After a little under the 70 minute mark, I decided to pull up to the parking lot and just go ahead and see if our Pizza may be ready; I know Friday evenings are super busy in the Pizza industry, trust me I used to deliver, I know how crazy it can get. I brought hubby along to help me carry the Pizzas and I had the most important job, bring along my newly purchased Restaurant.com voucher, that I printed online at home. I had read reviews where the staff at the restaurant wasn’t accepting the phone App, so I was prepared, wanted to make things easy, especially on a busy night.
As we walked in to pick up our order we saw many empty tables, maybe 3-4 tables were seated and we were the first one in line for the pickup order; we waited about 5 minutes before someone asked if we like to place an order, but I nicely said we are here for a pickup and told her my order and handed her my restaurant.com certificate. She pulled my pizzas from the top of the warming rack and gave me back my Restaurant.com certificate and said “Do you have one of these?” I looked a little strange and said “YEs, this is mine”. The stressed out waitress took my pizzas and moved them off to the side to let me know she would have to call to verify, I had no problem with that and told her to go ahead. I noticed she got a bit overwhelmed when the phone started to ring and orders for the dine in came up, almost seemed like she had forgotten about us, she tended to the dine in customers, the phone customers and then came back, trying to ring up my order when I nicely mentioned my Restaurant.com certificate.
She clearly was overwhelmed, I worked in the business before and I know there is no time to be overwhelmed, put a smile on and keep working, it will be over soon and Friday nights are always busy. Meanwhile we are standing at the register for almost 10 minutes, my order in front of me, patiently waiting for her to finish my order. I never had service like that anywhere and while I stayed patient, I also got annoyed and was to a point where I was ready to order somewhere else, but I stayed put. I wanted to give them a chance in trying their Pizza, which by now must have been … at least 30 minutes old and 10 of those sitting on the counter waiting to pay. Finally we got the green light and rushed home, luckily we are only 5 minutes from there and no cops were in sight .
The restaurant staff wasn’t the friendliest, but I couldn’t wait to dig into the Pizza, I love Pizza and had big hopes to find the best one in town. Well, it was good, I have to say that and I bet it would have been amazing if it was bubbling, or at least hot, instead of almost cold by the time we got home. We did enjoy the pizza and we will give the restaurant another chance, maybe during a not so busy night of the week, to see how a HOT pizza will be, I’m sure it will be close to the best pizza in town.
Now, my restaurant experience had nothing to do with Restaurant.com, however they are all for honest reviews and love to hear feedback and so I contacted my PR rep to see how she wants to work with me and her first response was that she was sorry about the inconvenience, but urged me to post the review to be honest, they want my readers, their costumers and anyone else to hear True stories, no matter how AWESOME or how “bad” it went. I’m all about honest and loved that response.
Nothing in life is perfect and everyone will have a different experience, so I totally urge you, even after all this to check out a new restaurant in your town or neighborhood and make it a fun Family Dinner and a Movie night, and give the restaurant a second chance, I know we will and I’m not a bit disappointed, “stuff happens”… we just have to roll with it!!
A big thanks to restaurant.com for being such an awesome company that stands behind their certificates and takes responsibility for every single one you purchase. They love to hear from you, the good, the bad and the ugly and they will be with you all the way. I was super pleased and can’t say enough about the entire team at Restaurant.com, they truly made it a wonderful experience and tried to keep me and my family happy. They even contacted the restaurant and gave me a new certificate (totally unexpected but much appreciated) for all my troubles. Now that’s an AWESOME customer service I may add.
Not every dinner can be perfect, but we can make it close to perfect with Restaurant.com on our side. What are your dinner plans for tonight? Would love to hear if you have a favorite restaurant that was listed on Restaurant.com?

This post actually reminded me to go re-check Restaurant.com. The last time I checked they had very few places near where I live.

Love your honest review! The app itself sounds like a really great idea for people that tend to eat out more. Makes it so that you don’t have to keep eating at the same places!

I think you did the right thing by posting an honest review, you wouldn’t wan’t to mislead anyone. Our local restaurants do not allow us to use Restaurant.com gcs for takeout which stinks.

I’ve thought about using restaurant.com for a while but everytime I get on their site and I read the conditions of the voucher, I never feel comfortable purchasing or using one.
Melanie Roberts says
Really Amanda? I never have a worry or issue, but would be glad to let the Restaurant.com team know and maybe they can help. It really isn’t all that scary and the rules and restrictions have changed a lot over the years; when i first started using restaurant.com a few years ago it had a lot of rules and restrictions, I was surprised a few months ago when I started using them again that the restrictions had changed and I was able to use almost every certificate for take out. Worth checking out, lot of things have changed.. thanks so much for coming and voicing your concern 🙂

Well, that’s unfortunately the that pizza wasn’t hot and bubbly. Glad to hear that you might try the place again on a not-so-busy night. That could make all the difference. We’ve been to two restaurants in the area and used our Restaurant.com gift certificates, fortunately both places had terrific food. We really lucked out. Restaurant.com is a great way to experience new restaurants and save some money in the process.

Pizza and a movie has been one of our family traditions for a while. I definitely prefer doing takeout and Redbox over going to the theater and then out for pizza. Just cozier!
