Have you ever heard your kids say “Mom… I’m bored” ? I know mine keep saying that over and over, especially during Spring break or the big summer vacation. I knew there had to be something that would keep them busy and not cost me an arm and a leg, something the kids could do on their own, without me constantly supervising and helping.
I set off to Dollar Tree, anytime I need something, that’s the place to go. I always find awesome deals and products that of course as the name says it, only cost a dollar each!! What a deal. I grabbed a $20 bill and decided that I would make a little basket with fun items that would keep the kids busy outside in the yard, on the go at the playground or just for fun and a second basket for those rainy days, long car rides or anytime you need them to sit down in peace and quiet so you can enjoy a cup of coffee without “MOM.. I need” in the background.
I found so many items and stayed under my budget and was able to fill two baskets, WOW! I’m impressed. I kind of fell in love with those little plastic baskets. They were the perfect size, have a little handle and can be used for organizing the kids toys as well. They came in different colors. Totally loved them!
As you can see I found a lot of items that would keep the kids busy during spring break or anytime they are home and holler “I’m bored!” or “Mom, I have nothing to do”. Those days are over in my house, they can grab a basket and get busy; inside or outside and I will never hear that “b” word again!
Here are a few tips on how to keep the kids busy during your Spring Break vacation
-
Get lots of different coloring books, place some of the pages inside a page protector and let the kids color, write or do their math practice and once they are done, you wipe the sheet protector clean and they can start all over the next time they get bored. The Dollar Tree has a nice selection of coloring and workbooks for your little ones, check it out.

Puzzles are a great way to practice the concentration, be patient and will keep the little ones busy for more then just a minute. Give them small puzzles and they will be so satisfied that they accomplished one on their very own that they will keep begging for me. Of course you know the place to go to get many more to keep your little tike busy ~ Dollar Tree of Course!

Grab some outside toys like a yo-yo or a jump rope, even bubbles. All these things will guarantee hours of fun and will keep the kids busy outside on a sunny day; keep them away from the video games and will get them off the couch and get moving. The Dollar Tree had a great selection, for boys and girls alike. So get moving and shakin’ in style.

Snack time ~ don’t forget to include a few snacks into your bucket; once they are having all the fun they will get hungry. I found a lot of healthy and kid friendly snacks at my Dollar Tree and you can rest assured that your little ones will enjoy it.

Personalize the buckets to your kids likes and needs. There were soo many items that I could have grabbed for the kids from toy cars to Barbie and workbooks along with chalk and bubbles, all these will keep your kid busy during Spring Break, be sure to check it out and create your very own basket that each of your kids will enjoy.
There you have it, lots of ideas to keep the kids busy during Spring Break or any other time you are in need of some quiet time alone. These buckets are too cute and will come in handy many times whether it be for a car ride to grandmas, trip to the beach or just hanging out in the yard, the kids will have a blast and you will not hear “I’m bored ever again!!”
So the next time you are looking for some fun things for the kids, be sure to visit your local Dollar Tree and see what fun things they have to offer, all for just a buck and not a penny more. I so love the Dollar Tree and when the grand kids come over we always make a trip there. I pick up things to entertain and feed them and give them some money to invest in merchandise on their own.

We have a Dollar Tree near us and it’s fun to go to a store where my son can truly pick out anything that he wants without me worrying about the prices. I usually let him choose 5 items and then he is entertained for a while. He’s a big fan of puzzles from Dollar Tree right now. They have great characters to select.

LOVE this idea! My kids are out starting Wednesday and we have a Dollar Tree close by! Usually, weather permitting, we do fun stuff around town like visiting parks, having a picnic, and a trip to the library.

That’s a great idea! That could even store the items you only play with outdoors all in one place.

I love, love, love Dollar Tree. My favorite thing is that they everything in the store is truly only $1. I love their balloons. They are so cheap and they last a really long time. I am planning a big party and have purchased a lot of my supplies there. Paper goods, cute dishes/containers, etc. My toddler had to have a scratch allergy test and I bought lots of new toys from there to take to the appointment and try to occupy and distract her while we had to be there for a few hours. They worked great!
My husband is not such a big fan as I tend to spend more money than he’d like when I go there. He has outright banned the buying of any toys from there as he said they break too quickly. But, I still love Dollar Tree. And, they recently opened one much closer to me than the ones I’d been going to. So you can bet I’ll be spending more time there!
