I just love Christmas Time. It’s a time to enjoy the family, share traditions, create new traditions and just have a peaceful time. Growing up in Germany, Christmas time was always magical. True, I was a kid then and as we all know kids don’t really see all the hustle and bustle of the season, but I remember that my mom did none of her shopping till Christmas Eve, decorate the tree Christmas Eve and we even had presents Christmas Eve. Isn’t it crazy? I know my mom couldn’t have done it all without her favorite coffee, wait, it was the Christmas Angel that did it all, not my mom… Right??
Ahhh… The simple times, how I miss them. Being little and seeing the holiday season in a different light. Now I’m a grown up, I have all the hustle and bustle and somehow it feels like it starts December 26th and won’t stop till December 25. Let me tell you, thanks to my Starbucks Coffee I stay sane all year long.
I recently picked up my favorite Starbucks K-Cups at Walmart and while checking out the House Blend as well as the new Holiday Blend, I also saw the brand new Hot Cocoa K-Cup. I was in heaven and had to bring home a few of the Starbucks products. What better way than to enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee or cocoa to relax during this busy season.
As I mentioned earlier I have fond memories of my mom and dad leaving Christmas Eve to head to the store to pick up all the Christmas presents, each of the kids had about 2 maybe 3 gifts under the tree and no one was allowed to see the tree until Christmas Eve evening when it was time for the Christmas Angel to deliver the presents and the gift giving was about to happen. Boy the anticipation was always big, the hardest part was we had to eat dinner before mom and dad allowed us to enter the Christmas room (living room).
It was magical seeing the tree all decorated and lit, hearing soft Christmas music in the background and seeing the presents. Mom never failed and every year was beautiful and perfect. I try to keep some of these traditions alive, but the tree is something I love too much to wait till Christmas Eve to decorate. How do you do the Christmas tree in your home? Do you have a special tradition?
I love my Coffee Brownie recipe, it’s actually a hand me down recipe from my grandma, like so many of my German recipes. It’s the perfect companion this time of the year and the best part, the brownies are homemade and will last you a few days easy. Unfortunately for me, there are never any leftovers. Everyone loves them.
Isn’t it amazing? Ahhhh I just love the cocoa, better watch cause it’s addictive just like the coffee. Now during Advent season, which is every Sunday leading up to Christmas Eve, starting with the last Sunday in November, I love to enjoy a hot cup of coffee or cocoa and my Coffee Brownie Christmas Tree while talking to my kids about our Christmas and Advent traditions.
We light a candle every time we sit down for a coffee break, breakfast or even dinner to welcome the season. Each Sunday we add another candle till all 4 candles are lit and Christmas Eve is near. DO you celebrate Advent with your family, too?
Would love to know if you have special family traditions or how you remember the Christmas Season growing up. Leave me a comment below and let’s chat and sip on a cup of Joe or Cocoa and bring back some wonderful memories.
As a special treat Get a $5 Starbucks Card e-gift when you purchase 3 or more qualifying Starbucks products. Perfect time to stuff all the stockings.
