Did you know that it’s Strawberry Season in Florida? I know… I’m totally rubbing it in! The weather is beautiful, no snow in sight and we have Florida Strawberries everywhere, how can life get any better than that you ask? Let me tell you there are two things that are awesome this time of the year, one is the amazing Strawberry Festival that runs every year in February in Plant City, just a few miles from my home and they serve strawberries galore, they even crown a Strawberry Queen, pretty awesome isn’t it? Another amazing thing, they dish up the most delicious Strawberry Shortcakes and they are to die for, so if you are ever in the area or planning a trip to Florida in February, visiting the Strawberry Festival is a MUST!

My assignment as one of the Fresh From Florida Ambassadors was to create a delicious recipe with Strawberries, well… Hello… what do you think came to mind first? Why yes… I just had to share a Strawberry Shortcake to make you all up North, all of you sitting in the cold, all snowed in, drool a little more over the amazing, juice and Fresh From Florida Strawberries and maybe entice you for a short trip to Florida, why not, right?

Strawberry Shortcake Fresh From Florida #Recipe

Strawberry Shortcakes come in all different shapes, flavors and creations, for my Fresh From Florida recipe challenge I wanted to combine a little of my German heritage with my new home in Florida and so I made the Strawberry Shortcake Whoopie Pie and made the Whoopie Pie after a traditional German recipe that we usually use for Strawberry cream rolls, they are so delicious but take a lot of time and patience to make and to be honest I’ve never made a cream roll that looked pretty, so not to dish you up something that looked well… ahhhmm… like a pile of cake, I decided to turn the cream roll into a Whoopie Pie and in the end all turned into a Strawberry Shortcake. Did I confuse you yet?? Well, call it Strawberry Short Cake, call is Strawberry Whoopie Pie or call it German Cream Roll… Call it whatever you want, the end result is all the same… It’s AMAZING!!

Wasn’t that simple? Doesn’t this look amazing and mouthwatering? Now you know why I love Florida Strawberries, they are so sweet and delicious and all that in the middle of February. I’m in love! They are always the best if they are locally grown so the next time you are at the store and you are one of the fortunate ones that call this Sunshine State home, check and make sure you buy Fresh From Florida produce to ensure you get the best and the freshest produce around. Ahhh … you can always make me break my diet if you hand me Strawberries and Whipping Cream, no matter when and where… it’s my all-time favorite! Do you have a favorite dish with Strawberries?

Finding the Florida Strawberries was easy, local stores like Publix have them all marked with the Fresh From Florida logo and I look online before I go too like Fresh From Florida on Facebook or Fresh From Florida on Twitter to see what the featured produce of the month is so I can make sure I grab the produce in season for our dinners or desserts. It’s simple as that!

This month Fresh from Florida is featuring two amazing Strawberry recipes that you don’t want to miss.

I really like the Strawberry Shortcake Whoopie Pie! It looks delicious and fun to make. I will have to make it soon. I just make regular Strawberry Shortcake with whipped cream and strawberries on Sponge Cake!

I used a whoopee pie sheet pan and needed two of each whoopee pie cakes for each dessert, I think there are 12 on my sheet so it ended up 6 serving. Enjoy
