We haven’t had much luck with the weather since we are here; rained most of the time, a bit of sunshine in-between but it’s very cold… yes, COLD in June…it’s unusual even for Germany to be in the 40’s during the day… we are from Florida, so 40’s is mhh a little too cold, especially since we only packed Tank Tops and shorts….. So, off to Wurzburg we went for a little sightseeing tour and in hopes to find some warmer cloth like maybe a snowsuit and mittens….
We decided to take the train, since Hubby and the kids never rode on a train and it was only a 20 min ride to Wurzburg. To my surprise the trains are all new and modern; nothing like what we had to ride on when I was a kid. LOVED the comfort…. we will definitely take a longer tour on a train soon… you get to see soooo many cool things along the way.
Once we arrive in Wurzburg, just like faith, it started the pour… off to the first department store we go….. and then to the second and third… we had a hard time finding any kind of cloth at all; I did manage to find some jackets and jeans for my Princess, so she’s the only one that is warm and cozy……
In-between the rain we kept walking the “Main” shopping street in Wurzburg, checking out some of the amazing artwork on the homes along the street and churches. We also found the market; ohhh that was amazing. Lots of fresh fruits and Veggies at a very affordable price. My kids went crazy seeing cherries and all the other veggies….. we grabbed a bag full of goodies for dinner and off we went to find something to eat.
There are Bakeries and snack food everywhere, on every corner. We ended up in a Bakery along the street and sat down and spend like $8 for lunch for all 5 of us…. what a bargain; hubby had a sandwich and the kids and I had a famous “Pizzazunge” which is like a small Pizza on a baguette…. ohhh how I’ve missed that… still as good as I remembered it.. My kids of course picked it too death and took off everything that looked “Strange” like mushrooms, ham, cheese.. and well, they pretty much kept the sauce and bread .lol
We toured downtown Wurzburg for a few more hours before the rain really sat in and it poured and poured and well… poured… we decided to call it the day and walked, yes, in the rain, in shorts and t-shirts and no umbrella, back to take the next train back to Kitzingen, trains leave every hour, so it wasn’t an issue to return at any time and just wait a bit and catch the next one.
Super exhausted and tired we all arrived at our Rental Home in Albertshofen (which is a small “suburb” outside Kitzingen) and I think I fell asleep as soon as we got there…. We now have to take another trip to Wurzburg to do some actual sightseeing like the bridge, the castle and all the other cool stuff, but we have to find a nice sunny day… so stay tuned….
