First Prayers: A Celebration of Faith and Love
We love books in this Crazy Mom’s house and when the First Prayers book arrived I was a bit skeptical, wasn’t too sure what to expect. Would my Punki like it, would the book be over her head, what age is the book for? I had so many questions.
The first thing I did was actually go online to find out anything I could about the book, that was before I even opened it and took a look at it’s contents. Silly, I know. But I love to know How, Where, What and Why before I make myself a picture.
Once I read all the comments and reviews, I thought it was time for me to actually read the book… BOY was I surprised. This is such a wonderful book and should not be missed in any library. We actually have been using this book for a month now each night at Bedtime. We read a different prayer each night and my Punki is all excited when we pull out the book.
I loved it.. my Punki loved it as well. The best part, it’s not ONE looong story, it’s one prayer per page with wonderful, yet simple illustrations. Just an amazing book. besides evening prayers, there are also dinner prayers, prayers for thanks and many more. Trust me when I say, this is a MUST have book in your library.
This lavish, inspiring collection of prayers will encourage young children to give thanks for the good things in their lives. Encompassing both Biblical excerpts and psalms as well as more secular hymns to nature, family, and love, First Prayers features captivating, accessible illustrations by award-winning artist Troy Howell. In addition to traditional prayers, there are classic poems written by William Blake (“Little Lamb, who made thee?”), Robert Browning (“The year’s at the spring”), Samuel Taylor Coleridge (“He prayeth well, who loveth well”), and others.
This is yet another wonderful book from Sterling publishing; this is truly a celebration of Faith and Love.
