Goodbye Summer ~ Hello New School year let’s Celebrate with a Pizza Family Party #FoodMadeSimple #shop

We just had our very last weekend of summer break. Where did the time go? A few more days and all the kids will be heading off to school. This time next week I will have one in first grade, one a freshman in high school and one a freshman in college; boy can I get any busier?

The kids are growing up so fast and soon they will go their own way and rather not spend time with Mom and Dad. I always take advantage of the weekends when all the kids are home and declare Sunday as our family fun day. No matter what, where or when, everyone knows Sunday is the day to be home with the family!

We try to have family meals during the weeks as often as we can, but Sunday is always a must. I wanted to make our last fun day a little special and celebrate the kids going off to different classes and while I made my grocery list for my weekly trip to Walmart I tried to come up with ideas that all the kids would enjoy. I know my kids love pizza and whether it is the oldest or the youngest, I can never keep enough pizza in the house. I have to admit, I love it, too and could eat it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I’m sure I’m not alone.

A family pizza party with a small salad and fruit bar would be a fun treat. I know Walmart would have everything I needed to spoil my family and I also know that Walmart always has the best price for the items that I buy for my family. Trying to stay within a budget to feed my family of 5 is very important to me.

I picked up some fruit, crackers, veggies and Jack’s pizza. I’m not sure why, but it stood out and jumped at me. Maybe it was that Jack’s pizza has been around since the 60’s and I have yet had a chance to try it? Maybe it was the amazingly low price? I don’t know, but I do know that I grabbed four off them, each was under $3.00 and the kids love pepperoni and cheese pizza.

It has been extremely hot in Florida and I hate turning on the oven just to make a pizza, interesting fact on the packaging for Jack’s pizza it said it would be great for grilling, guess what we did… Yup, we popped it on the grill and 15 minutes later our pizza was done! We used a gas grill and it was easy peace lemon squeeze. I bet anyone can do this!

I prepared a little salad and fruit bar for the kids to nibble on and enjoy their pizza; we all sat on the table for hours just chatting about the good ol’ times, how much fun the kids had during the summer, the things they miss while they were away for our Germany trip, what expectations they have for the new school year and many more things. It was a blast to just sit and chat and have fun as a family.

Not much effort, but it meant a whole lot to me and I’m sure the kids, too. Who knows how many more dinners we have all together as one family, with the oldest going to college, he may not be home that often anymore, the middle one hanging out more with his friends; I truly enjoyed it and loved that Jack’s pizza was super easy on the grill, prepared in 15 minutes and dinner was served.

I love when #FoodMadeSimple and everyone enjoys it. Have you tried Jack’s pizza yet? We love it and it will be a new addition to our freezer, that’s for sure! Crispy, crunchy and delicious, pair it with a nice cold glass of Lemon & Lime water and you will have a great dinner whether you are feeding a crowed or just yourself. This year all 3 of my kids will be in school all day long – oh, there will be some celebrating! I might do that with a pizza solo and perhaps a manicure! 😉

I think it’s important to ease children back into school as though it is a celebration. Those Jack’s pizzas look like great motivation to me!

I joke that I throw a party while they are gone on their first day. We generally try and kick it off with a fun dinner the night before, and lots of good sleep.

Family pizza parties are one of our favorite ways to have a low-key celebration. Pizza is something we can all agree on – though I like your idea of a toppings bar to customize individual slices!

My kids started school today. It is so quiet with all four of them being gone all day. Tonight I enjoyed making a family dinner. I do wish my store stocked that brand of pizza. Pizza is one of our favorite meals here.
