Holiday Gift Giveaway & Review ….Thursday

November 25, 2010 By Melanie Roberts

And the Holiday Gift Giveaway for Thursday is……

This English/ French learning CD from Little One Books

I was excited when I was approached to do a review for Little One Books. They are amazing. Have you checked out their Store ? Little One Books specializes in quality books, music, and video, for children birth through age five, and the owners (Barney & Joan, the Grandparents) personally reviewed and selected each and every item in their store.

They have a wonderful selection from Newborn through age 5. They don’t only offer books, they also have Music Cd’s and video’s for your Little One.

I was asked to choose a product for my review and I decided on something different. Being a Bi-lingual family for German and English, I was hoping to be able to find something to help me with teaching my German language to the kids while playing, while they didn’t had any of the German products, they had Spanish and  French. I love French, so I decided to try out the French / English Music Cd…

I LOVED it… the kids love it, they sing it every day and dance to the songs. Some familiar songs to me where Brother Jacob, we’ve always sang it in French at home, so that was nice and the songs are very familiar songs like Wheels on the Bus or Old McDonald, and it is English and french.. in between each song kids are talking in French and translating the word into English. I love this series and will get the Spanish CD as well, and will contact the company for German. It is truly a learning CD like any other. I have not found anything that is true language learning.. We loved it!!!

Little One books was gracious to offer one of my readers the same CD for their Little Ones…

Currently they have FREE Shipping on all their orders

MERRY CHRISTMAS…

My favorite item at Little One Books is The Story of Ferdinand. But I am blessed to still have a copy of this book from my own childhood. So my favorite item, which I don’t already own, is The Frogs and Toads All Sang because I love Arnold Lobel’s books!

I would like to win this giveaway because Little One Books has such a great collection of books to choose from. We are just starting to build our home library for our kids, and I know we would find great choices at Little One Books! Our family loves to read!

I forgot to say in my above comment that I speak French, and I would love for my kids to learn some French, too. Also, I’ve heard that kids should be exposed to lots of foreign languages when they are young. Even if they don’t learn any other languages, it is beneficial just to be exposed to the different sounds. If a child is not exposed to a certain sound during the “critical period”, then s/he will never really be able to produce that sound. So hearing a lot of languages when you’re young helps with learning languages at older ages, too!

I would love to have the French book. I took French in school and my daughter would like to learn but guess what…they only offer Spanish. I teach her some, but a system would help her more I am sure. I follow on Facebook and twitter. Bon jour.
