For years I’ve been on the hunt for a really good, yet affordable kitchen scale. Growing up in Germany we baked lots of goodies, unfortunately all these recipes are in gram or kilo’s and making it very hard in the us to reproduce these recipes, not knowing how many pounds, ounces or cups something might be.
So far, I found many scales, some expensive and some cheap, but none would have the qualities and options that I wanted for my kitchen. I did an Amazon.com search a few weeks ago and came across the Ozeri products. I really liked the look of their Ozeri Gourmet Digital Kitchen Scale in Tempered Glass – with Timer, Alarm and Temperature Display . It would fit nicely on my counter, with a glass top to make cleaning easier and many cool features. At a price of under $25 (on sale, regular price is $59.99), was just in my budget to check it out.
The scale itself was 8.7 x 0.8 x 6 inches ; and weighs about 1 pounds. Love the size and the weight. The digital display will gray out when not in use and turn bright blue when you are using the scale. If you aren’t using the scale, it will display the room temperature as well as the current time, setting the time was super easy, all is touch buttons. There is also a cooking timer that you can set. I know I can never have too many timers and this one will come in handy, that’s for sure.
You can quickly switch the scale from gram to ounces and even fluid ounces and get a very accurate reading within second. The scale also has a automatic power off feature, unlike most scales that turn off within a minute, driving me crazy, cause one minute sometimes isn’t enough time to add all your ingredients or to stop and see if you already added too much, this scale will power off after 2 minutes. Perfect to get the job done.
I also love that the large display is on the side of the scale, making it easy to see your measurements without moving your bowls around. A lot of scales have the weight display on the front of the scale, making it very hard to read when you have larger bowls. LOVE that on the Ozeri Gourmet Digital Scale.
The Scale runs on 3 AAA, making it very affordable, since you don’t have to purchase specialty batteries and your first set is also included in the package; letting you use the scale right out of the box.
The scale itself is very thin, perfect to keep it sitting on your counter on a daily basis. You can also use the scale to weigh your postage and many other things. Overall, I’m very happy with the Ozeri Gourmet Digital Kitchen Scale, so many features for little money. I have been using this scale almost on a daily basis and haven’t had any issues since.
If you are in the market for a new Digital kitchen Scale, be sure to visit Ozeri on the web to get more information about their amazing products; you can follow on Facebook or Twitter and of course purchase your very own Ozeri Gourmet Digital Kitchen Scale through Amazon.com.

I love having a scale in the kitchen for the occasional recipe that is by weight, but also comes in handy for checking lighter packages that I’m mailing as well and saving money on postage by printing my own postage. Gotta love things that serve more than one purpose!
