It’s time to share my peanut gallery again and while I love my babies I started to think with the holidays slowly approaching and a lot of people planning family gatherings and holiday parties I wanted to share our healthy snack or treat routine to remind you that your pet is family and you want to keep them healthy this holiday season, too. No one wants a trip to the emergency vet on thanksgiving day.
I love treats for my babies that are real, I can’t emphasize over and over how important it is to pick up quality treats that are grain free, are not a poultry by-product meal, have no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives and one thing that is very very very important that I can’t stress enough MADE in the USA! If you’ve been around my Peanut Gallery for a while you know I will only purchase Made in the USA for safety and health reason and person believes.
My babies are my family and after a few issues, I will only feed the best. I was excited when I found all my standard requirements for dog treats at my local Target. Yep… I didn’t even have to go to a specialty food store or even make the snack myself, Target sold Purina Beyond Snacks and they totally fit my idea of a healthy treat that is made in the USA (very important, I did tell you that, right?), actually it is crafted in Arkansas. Since my dogs love chicken I picked up a few bags of the Purina Beyond White Meat Chicken Cutlets Natural Dog Snacks, chicken is the #1 ingredient.
Currently at Target there is a 10% cartwheel offer off Purina Beyond Dog Snacks, available from 10/4-10/31, take advantage of that and share some feel good treats with your dogs this holiday season.
I also hear all to often how our fur babies get sick during this time of the year and decided to share my 5 tips to keep them healthy, check them out below and feel free to leave me a comment with your healthy tip idea. I love to hear all about it.
5 Tips to keep your dogs happy and healthy during the Holiday Season
-
No Table food! That is the biggest issue. Whatever you do, do not feed them from the table. There are a lot of issues with table food from bones that could get dislodged in their air pipes to items that could poison your fur babies like raisins and other ingredients. Don’t chance it…. paws away from the table!
-
Clean the water bowl daily! The best way to clean your pets water bowl is with hot water and soap once if not twice a day, make sure you have metal or glass bowls rather then plastic. Bacteria will grow faster in plastic bowl especially if the plastic is broken or chipped. Think about it, do you like to drink from the same glass all day long without cleaning it? Maybe for days at a time? Didn’t think so, neither does your pet, keep them healthy clean their bowl often!!

Keep them safe during big family gathering and maybe put them in their crate or a separate room to eliminate their excitement and maybe that extra food scrap from the table from Uncle John. Let them have a little fun and give them Purina Beyond Dog Snacks and then get them ready to rest in a different part of the house.
-
Lots of exercise. Walking or playing with your pet is key not just during the holidays. The more exercise they get the stronger their bodies are and incase they do end up with an illness or an emergency. It will be easier for them to fight it and make it through ok.

Lots of love and kisses. With all the holiday hustle and bustle things can get rather hectic and we may not spend as much time with our beloved fur babies, take time out of your busy schedule between cooking, shopping and planning to shower them with love and lots of kisses, not only will they feel special but it will reduce your stress level as well; win win for all!
There you have a few of my tips on how to get your fur babies happy and healthy through the holiday season. Now enjoy the fur babies, give them an extra treat here and there and let the party season begin. Leave me a comment below and share some of your favorite tips with us.
I also created a small emergency info card that you can print and laminate and attach to your fridge or wherever it is easy to find. Makes things a little easier if an unexpected emergency arises. No one likes an emergency but being prepared is the key. So print it, share it, save it, pin it. Just DON’T forget it!
Happy Holiday Season from my paws to yours….
