Lebkuchen Pancakes are perfect for Christmas Morning

December 9, 2016 By Melanie Roberts Leave a Comment

lebkuchen-pancake-breakfastI love to surprise my family with different breakfast ideas every year for Christmas and since the big day is only a few weeks away, I decided to share my favorite Lebkuchen Pancakes recipe. I grew up in Germany and we had Lebkuchen all the time. Lebkuchen seasoning is similar to Gingerbread seasoning I just always add a few extra seasoning to keep it unique to my German heritage, plus i miss home this time of the year. A little housekeeping real quick, I’m part of the Bounty Ambassador program and have been compensated for this post.

In Germany Lebkuchen are a big thing during the Christmas Season and the spices included are usually  cinnamon, ground cloves, ground allspice, ground mace, ground coriander, ground cardamom and ground ginger. Most of these spices can be bought at your local store in the Ethnic section and are fairly affordable, too. As you see, they are a little different than the American Gingerbread seasoning, but trust me it is amazing!!!

I usually make one batch each season and use it for almost everything from hot chocolate to cakes, cookies and all kind of recipes. So while I made my seasoning stash the other day I remembered the Lebkuchen Pancakes that my mom always made when we were kids and she served them with Hot Cinnamon Cherries. Oh so good!! Little tip, when making your Lebkuchen spice be sure to lay a Bounty Paper Towel under the bowl to make cleanup easier if you do spill any of the spices.

I love these pancakes and the cherry topping, it’s so easy to make and now you can share this delicious and flavorful breakfast with your family this Christmas Morning. You could even prepare the Cherry topping the night before and just head the cherry topping in the microwave, lay a Bounty Paper Towel over the bowl and heat for a few minutes.

While the holiday season is a joyous time, they also deck the halls with messes. When entertaining guests, the last thing you need is to run out of paper towels that help keep your home tidy. Stock up on Bounty Paper Towels before the season kicks into full gear!

Thanks to Bounty, cleanup is a breeze, with cherries you always have to watch a little to make sure no red juice stains your cloths or napkins. We keep Bounty Paper Towels nearby along with Bounty Quilted Napkins on my breakfast table. The Quicker Picker Upper will get the job done no matter how messy and sticky. I wouldn’t want to miss it on our Christmas Table.

I hope you enjoy our Lebkuchen Pancakes with Cherry topping as much as we do. It smells amazing and will be perfect on Christmas Morning. They are easy to make and easy to clean up. Serve with a nice hot cup of cocoa and enjoy the family unwrap presents. This recipe will serve 4-6 easy if not more.
