Last summer we went to visit my best friend in Mobile, Al. She had this amazing decorative plate on her counter and I fell in love with it. I found out the plate was called “Happy Everything” plate and I was determined that I had to have this plate… check it out, this is what it looks like.
You can add different attachments for the season, time of year or any kind of occasion. I LOVED it..! The disappointment overtook after I found out that the plate itself would cost me $100 (!!) and each attachment would be again $20 or more.. Certainly not something I would be able to afford, maybe I didn’t want to afford it, because I didn’t try too hard to save my money for one plate.
I did dream of the plate for month now and imagined how it will look like on my counters, the living room or the table; I’m soo hooked on having this plate in my house that I knew there had to be a way to get a similar look for much cheaper…
I set off to Hobby Lobby, coupon in hand (their website has a 40% off on a single item, you never know, you may need it…:0) ) the other day and check out what I came up with.. it isn’t 100% the same as the plate but I only spend maybe $10 on the entire thing.. so if I want to change it, not a problem.. if I get tired of it.. not a problem for $10 bucks…
I’m totally on a Chalkboard trip lately and wanted to try the Chalkboard Paint; I grabbed a can at Hobby Lobby and with my Coupon ended up to be $3; the plate I found in the décor isle.. it’s one of the plastic décor plates; I spray painted it and the dots are actually wood circles that I found at Hobby Lobby for $1 for like 50 of them; I painted them in the colors that I wanted; added an R with a magnet so I can always change it out to a different item and Voila…. My very own plate… What ya think??
This was sooo simple and until I save my money or make up my mind that I really really have to have this beautiful Happy Everything Plate… I think I will be happy with my very own costume made Chalkboard paint plate… took me less than $10 and about 1/2 (not counting the drying time) hour and I was done….

I love this idea, the Happy Everything plate is nice but is pretty costly. I love the idea you came up with, still nice and affordable.
