As most of you know, a few days ago I set off to my very first Blogger Conference at Disney called “SheCon”. I heard a lot of good things about Blogger conferences and the opportunities, ideas and education Bloggers take away from the experience. Since Disney is only 45 min from our home, it was no brainer and I signed up.
There was only one problem…. I didn’t know anyone at the conference; sure I’ve heard of some of the Blog names before, but the internet and the real person a re a lot different. I was a bit worried, I’m not the social butterfly everyone seems to think I’m and quit frankly, I get panic attacks just thinking about talking to “strangers”. I can not tell you how hard I tried to talk myself out of going to the conference the closer it got, the more panicky I got. BUT.. I’m a big Girl, so I put on my Big Girl Panties (like my Boss likes to call it) and set off to meet 3 amazing Bloggers that I would share the room with while at Disney.
Once I got there, I felt like family; I can not tell you how amazing the welcome from my roomies where. I fell in LOVE, YES in LOVE with my fellow roomies. Sam from Have Sippy will Travel is just amazing, she’s my buddy; we had a blast the entire weekend. All worries and fears where immediately gone and I know I found a friend for life.. SHE’s a doll… miss her already, she’s just crazy, just like this Crazy Mom, but is AMAZING to be around; she definitely lights up a room, just like her blog.
I’ve also fell in love with Grace from Blessed Elements; she was just like me, kind of looked like my mom and made me feel very welcome; a bit quiet, just like me, I fell in love with her personality and just had a great time and I’m glad I was able to spend the weekend with her. Every child is blessed to have her as their grandma, and I’m blessed to call her my friend.
Another amazing blogger is Pam from The Thrifty Things; I just love her.. she’s that Georgia, Southern kind of girl. Quiet, polite and soooo like me. I had a blast hanging out with her and getting to know her and her blog and I felt like we knew each other for years; I can’t wait to meet up with Pam again one day… she’s just peachy to be around.. like in Georgia Peach…:0)
Barb is another wonderful Blogger that I fell in love with; she traveled all the way from the Country (Kentucky that is) with her family to Florida, first time at Disney and they had a blast. It was amazing to see how their eyes lid up and how much fun we all had together. Barb, she thinks is a country gal, prove herself well in the BIG City…. her blog Rural Mom and Comic Book Mom are just as amazing as she is; I can’t wait to get to know her more in our Blogging journey and hope to have another friend for life in Kentucky.
I’ve learned a lot at the conference, BUT the memories I will cherish forever are the new friends I’ve made; so go ahead check out my new buddies and see for yourselfe why I LOVE each of them in their very own way, I know you will enjoy them as well. Something different and something new for everyone.
Lesson learned from this experience, never give up, never talk yourself out of something, you never know what you will take away from it unless you go. I would have missed meeting ALL the amazing ladies and speakers that I’ve gotten to know over a very short weekend… Jump your fear and you will thank me in the long run.. I know I’m glad I went……
