I just love Pinterest and the amazing ideas I can find from amazing people. I decided to join a few wonderful Bloggers to showcase our favorite Pinterest recipes or crafts every month and share them with you. Fail or win, you will see it and maybe get a few extra tips on how I improved the idea or made an adjustment, too. After all, we’ve all seen amazing Pinterest pictures and always wanted to make it just to find out that something isn’t working the way it should. I’ve been there done that, now I will share with you if something really worked or not.
This month I found a few amazing recipes that would be great for fall, but somehow I was very mesmerized by the idea of making a small snack idea and when I found the pin from Tiffany over at MyLitter.com where she made mini caramel apples, I knew I had to try it.
I wanted to creation a little of my own so took a few tips and ideas from Tiffany but added other items myself to give you a few options. I loved how hers turned out and caramel is amazing, she did a beautiful job. Chocolate was something we love with our apples so for us we made Mini Chocolate Apple pops.
As like Tiffany mentioned her caramel ran right off the apple pops, the same thing I wanted to check with the chocolate to give you the best way to make this happen and Yes, the chocolate ran right off the apple if it was not dried! So keep that in min, dry the apple balls with a paper towel just right before you dip them into the chocolate.
Another thing I did that I did not see in Tiffany’s post but thought would be helpful, I took a small bowl filled with water and added lemon juice to the water, I then added my apple ball cutout to the water and let them sit there while I finished all the other apple cut outs, I wanted to make sure my apples wouldn’t turn brown. Does it matter…?? I’m not sure, but it worked well. I kept all of them in the water till I was ready to use them, then towel dried each right before using them.
I also mentioned in my recipe that I used coconut oil in my chocolate, I found this has worked the best for me to melt chocolate in the microwave, have it melted longer and get harder quicker. That’s my personal experience, you can experiment with other things if you like.
Another quick tip, melt your chocolate in small glass jars, that makes it easy for you to dip your apples in and shake any excess chocolate off into your glass jar, cleanup was a breeze, too.
This was also my first time using a melon baller, WOW… I must have stuck under a rock, this little tool is AMAZING!! Can’t wait to find many more uses, maybe cucumbers, pumpkin, peaches, the possibilities are endless. Totally love it. The Lollipop Sticks are also a must have, they can be used for so many things. The candy sprinkles are also a lot of fun and come in different shapes, colors and occasions.
There you have my Pin remake for the month, it turned out very very well, I’m excited because these little Apple Pops will be a welcome sight at any Halloween or Birthday party and we all know something mini is amazing!
