Moms need to take care of themselves too. It’s something we all too often overlook or put behind everything else. It kind of occurred to me the other day while talking to a good friend who went through some hard times and she looked at me and said “You know what, I decided to be myself first”. That sentence was so simple, something we all should do anyways but it was also powerful and made me think.
Somehow I couldn’t get that out of my head, we all know how hard it can be for a mom to put herself first, the kids, the pets, the work, the house, the cooking, the shopping and the list goes on and one, really no time for ME. But why…?? Why do we make time for everything but the most important thing “ME”. After all, if Mom isn’t happy no one is, so I decided to share a few tips and ideas on how I think it would be easy to get a little “ME” time in and to do yourself something good.
You are a person, you have value and your body needs to last another 70+ years, so take care of it and the first step is to head to Walgreens and check out their amazing vitamin section. That’s another thing most of us lack, vitamins. Do you take yours? Daily? Even have any in your cabinet? Well, Walgreens has you covered, I picked up the Centrum MultiGummies since I’m not one that likes to swallow a big ol’ pill, I always gave the kids gummies so why not for moms, right? They taste great and are super easy to take.
I also picked up the new Vitamints in Raspberry flavor. I have to admit, I love raspberry and they looked like mints, making it easy to take while on the go. Since busy Mom’s don’t take much time for themself these gummies and Vitamints are super easy to take, no water needed and are always in your purse for on the go.
If you are anything like me, I always forget to take my vitamins, these Centrum bottles are small enough to keep in your purse and you can take the vitamins whenever you think about it. Doing Laundry? No problem, grab a book and close the laundry door for the last 15 minutes the dryer is running; breath in and out and enjoy your “ME” time while the laundry is finishing up. You will be much relaxed and you are able to tackle the rest of the day in no time.

Grab a few extra fruits while at the grocery store. You can grab one here and there while running after the kids or running errands. Keep an apple in your purse, they last for days and are easy snack when on the go.

Once the kids are in bed sit down for 30 minutes or an hr. and do whatever YOU want, watch a movie, read a book or play a game and then pick up for the night, or well, if you don’t get to it, no worries it will still be there tomorrow… Just enjoy your evening!!!

Kids take a nap? Guess what… Take a nap as well! Who said you can not take a nap? Who will judge you? Just do it!! It’s your energy, your power and your decision… JUST DO IT!!

You don’t have to be perfect ALL the time!! Yup, I said it. We all strive for perfection but honestly, will you remember if the house was clean that day the lady down the street came to visit that one time 5 years ago? Yeah… didn’t think so! Just let it be. Don’t stress over if the kids have the perfect sandwich, the perfect outfit or hair no one will remember how and what it looked like 5 years from now (I doubt my kids will even remember 5 hrs. from now to be honest). Just tell yourself “Will it matter 5 years from now and if your answer is NO”… Move on, let it go and just relax!!!
