By now you probly know that I’m a clean freak and I love to be organized. I feel like my house is closing in on me if I see clutter… I’m almost claustrophobic.. it’s weired. So I spend most of my weekends cleaning and organizing the house, just to find it a mess again come Monday. sad, BUT then I think, what if I don’t clean all weekend what would it look like.
I thought it would be fun to show you some changes we made in cleaning supplies around here and that we can save a ton of money by re-using items rather then re-buying them every week.
- I love to use Microfiber Cloths they are fairly cheap and a one time investment, you can use them to clean the Bathroom, the shower, the kitchen counters, the car, the kids room, just about anything you use a paper Towel on; yet your savings can increase drastic by using the cloth.
- Cleaning my floors I like to use a mop that is convenient like the FREEDOM SPRAY MOP or the Steam Pocket Mop; the reason I love to use Mops like this is simple; I can use plain water for the Steam Mop or a homemade vinegar/lemon solution for the Freedom mop and all the other parts are reusable and can be washed in the machine; I much rather have my washing machine clean the cleaning pads then to drag around one of those “OLD” yuckyROLLER MOPs. The old mops are just not beneficial nowadays and I do not like them at all.
- I love to re-use products like Shopping plastic bags from the store can be re-used as a trash bag, a compost bag, so many things can be done with those plastic bags, and they are in most stores for FREE, re-use them for other things; I also love to re-use all the newspapers that we buy each week. I actually clean my windows with the newspaper and a vinegar/water solution and it cleans the window beautifully and you are out hardly a penny…
- Laundry Soap is another big thing, we do buy soap with coupons and pay next to nothing, BUT just because it is free doesn’t mean to waist it; I dilute the soap with water and I do the same with hand soap and dish soap, you will be surprised how well that works and everything still gets clean but you get 50% more use out of the products.
- Make your own cleaning solution is simple, I love to clean with vinegar and water, you may need to get used to the smell for a bit, but actual it will neutralize any bad odor in the house and after a few weeks of using the vinegar you don’t really mind the smell while cleaning; I’m so used to it, I kind of miss it if we use something else.
These are just a few tips to get you started to save a penny while keeping your house nice and clean. What is your favorite cleaning tool or tip? Would love to hear that.

I made my own laundry soap recently. It still cleans well without hurting my child’s skin allergies. I am very happy with it! You can make it for very little out of pocket as well which may save you from having to water down the store bought stuff. =)

I love microfiber cloths too! They are the best for dusting! I always keep one in my car as well, to keep up with dust. And last but not least, I use one to clean my glasses!

I use a Swiffer because I got it for review a few years ago but it’s too expensive. I want to buy the new one (not sure what company) that uses refillable cleaner and washable cloths.
We reuse grocery bags here all the time but they are not free. Bags are 5 cents each around here now. But we reused them when they were free too.
Great tips!

Good idea to use the microfiber cloths. I use a sponge in the bathroom but even those don’t last very long. I’ll have to switch over to cloths!
