Did you have an all nighter again? No, I’m not meaning party all night like it was 1990, I mean the insomnia that shows up every night at 1 am and won’t go away. I’m so tired of being tired, are you?

As a busy mom that works outside the home I spend a lot of time running around between the office and the kids activities, cooking dinner, cleaning and all the other chores that need to be done on a daily basis, when 7 o’clock rolls around I’m beat. I know, I feel like an old lady, I’m literally in bed by 8 and fast asleep, I’m that tired! Perfect right?
Well… My perfect world comes to a screeching hold at 10 or 11 PM when I’m wide awake and play the infomercial night show game, switching from one channel to the other, tossing, turning and well watching the clock go by and my eyes still wide awake. 6pm always comes way too fast and the day begins again.
Yeah, that’s my life and I’m certain yours, too. A good night’s sleep is so important especially for us moms, but how to get one? Well, I decided to jot down a few of my tips and ideas in hopes to give you a better night sleep, too.
My first step was to go to Walgreens, they are committed to helping their customers feel good every day, from start to finish, and they know a great night’s rest is the beginning of a great day’s start. That’s why they’re focusing on sleep solutions in store during the month of March, where customers will have access to a variety of restful sleep aids in store, and helpful sleep tools and information online. Lots of great info to be found.
Walgreens also has a special promotion going where customers can earn 3,000 Balance Rewards points (a $3 value) when they purchase 2 of the following participating products: Emergen-Zzz (“These statements have not been evaluated by the food and drug administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease”), Nexium 24HR, or Advil PM during the month of March, perfect for when you are trying to get some extra Zzzz’s.
A few tips on how to get extra Zzzz’s that work for me are:
-
Don’t drink Caffeine before going to bed.
-
Drink plenty of water during the day and evening
-
Eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables
- Give Emergen-Zzz or Advil PM a try
-
Turn off the TV before falling asleep so you won’t wake up during a show/volume change.
These are just a few of my personal ideas and experiences, I’m not a medical professional and can not guarantee or advise on what works best for you or your situation.
I also found a great dinner salad that could help you get a better night’s sleep, it includes Chickpeas. I know, I know, different, but so worth it and delicious. Did you know that Chickpeas are full of vitamin B6, which plays an important role in helping your body produce serotonin, the feel-good hormone that boosts your mental health and helps you rest easy? Yes.. Chickpeas are full of it!
Check out my favorite Colorful Chickpea Pasta Salad, it’s so easy to make, very flavorful and trust me it will fill you up in no time, you can serve it with bread, chicken or just the way it is. I also love leftovers, they are amazing the next day for lunch or dinner if I’m running late. Takes only minutes to prepare, try it and I’m sure you will love it, too.
Wasn’t this an easy way to add some veggies to your diet and also include some much needed vitamin B6 to maybe get you a better night sleep? It’s worth a shot and always keep a bottle of Advil PM or Emergen-Zzz in your cabinet so you hopefully too can rest assured and power through the busy day come morning.
I know I’m sleeping much better, rested in the morning and off to a busy day with the kids and no worries about falling asleep half way through, hope you will be able to enjoy your day, too.
Do you have any tips on how you get a good night sleep? Would love to hear all about it, together we can make sure everyone gets the best sleep they can to have the best day with their family, everyday!

I’ve eliminated almost all blue light REM distractions and removed the TV from my bedroom. I found creating a personal space that is a sanctuary helps me unwind, relax, and stay asleep longer. #client

I am very fortunate that I have always slept though the night but have friends that suffer from insomnia. I love chick peas and this salad looks lovely so I am going to try it. Thanks so much for the recipe.
