This Trip will be so much fun and we are excited to take all of you along for the ride. My husband and my Princess are very excited, this is the first time ever they will be on a plane, or even leaving the state of Florida and going to a different Country. The Tween and teen are just as excited to go home to Germany, we haven’t been in 12 years, so the kids where little last time we where there. This time everyone will be able to bring back lots of memories; trust me.. I made sure, we have cameras for everyone to record their very own experience of the trip.
Since I’m the only one that grew up in Germany, this trip is all about visiting Family and friends and showing my family my home Country and introducing everyone to my side of the family, including grandparents. We have lots of things on our bucket list, check them all out… I hope we can accomplish most of them, but if not… there is always another trip .. one day, right?
Our Germany Bucket List
Touring Berlin:
Visiting the East and west side of Berlin, including the Wall, Check Point Charlie and many attractions that Berlin has to offer; I found an amazing APP for the iPhone or iPad about Touring Berlin and this will be our Tour Guide; from Shopping to Tourist Attractions and money savings tips.. all in the APP; I also hope we can see “The Reichstag”. We booked a Bus and Boat Tour through Berlin, making it easier to see as much as possible, so wish us luck that we have a nice sunny day.
Die Autobahn:
This will be my first trip on the Autobahn as a driver, wish us luck and my goal is to hit the 200km/h (120/mph) since there isn’t much of a speed limit on part of the roads; however on 90% of German Autobahns, there is actually a Speed limit, did you know that?
Concentration Camps:
We are in the middle of my Germany History, so a trip to the Dachau Concentration Camp is a given; the kids learn it in school and my boys will get first hand tours of the actual facilities, can’t get History any better then that.
LEGOLAND Germany:
We are super excited to spend a day at LEGOLAND Germany; the crazy part, we are about 45 minutes away from LEGOLAND Florida and will not go for a visit, the reason you ask… LEGOLAND Germany I can get my entire family into the park with a family ticket for like $60 a day; in Florida.. I have to spend $60 or more per person/day… CRAZY.. I know… we have to fly to another Country to enjoy something we actually have in our backyard; the boys want to see it and I think it will be a fun day trip.
Visit Alpine Center:
This is an exciting place my boys soo want to visit; they have indoor snowboarding and all kind of activities; super cool and we hope to spend 2-3 days at this amazing place and have some much needed family fun.
Visiting with all of my BFF’s from back in the day.. from Elementary School all the way to College…
Attending a few different Wine fests while there, they always have been fun and are most of the time Street festivals where the entire town comes out and hangs out for the weekend; lots of yummy food and of course wine… hope to have a Class of 1992 reunion at one of the Wine festivals *fingers crossed*
Bamberg:
Bamberg is hosting a Bavarian garden show; I can’t wait to see how the old town cleaned up and is blooming in style; combining this trip to Bamberg with visiting an old high School Friend and her twin baby boys.
Heidelberg:
Touring the Old Towers and Bridges, showing my Family how Beautiful Heidelberg is.
Nurnberg:
Nurnberg is just a short distance from my Hometown; my family will have to go and see this beautiful little old charming town. We may spend a few hours in the City Water parks or may enjoy a cool Beer at a Biergarten; either way it will be wonderful.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber:
This is yet another beautiful old town, very close to my home town and a must see when you are in Germany; I can’t wait to spend a day there and show my family around.
Munich:
We are 2 maybe 2.5 short driving hours from Munich and my Boys can’t wait to check out the Allianz Soccer Stadium and the “Wiesen” where the all to familiar Oktoberfest is each yet and so many more attractions in Munich. We may or may not spend a night here, not sure yet. We may take a dive in the local river called “ISAR”… so many possibilities for Munich. My Teen wants to go visit the FC Bayern Munich Store, which is his all time favorite Soccer Team.
Take a Train ride or two:
The train transportation in Germany and all over Europe is excellent; I can’t wait to take my family on a few train rides through different cities and see the fields and scenery; Trains will litterly take you anywhere in Europe; you never know where we end up, but this is a MUST when you are in Europe, hop on a Train and enjoy the ride.
Kaiserslautern;
We also will take a trip to Kaiserslautern to visit with my Sister and her Family; they are military and are stationed there; this will be so much fun to have all the cousins together again. We sure missed them.
Cologne:
Cologne is another City that is a must see when you are in Germany. I have my very own tour guide and can’t wait to meet up with my old High School friend who agreed to show us around; nothing better then locals showing you the town; you will find all the nooks and granny’s that Tourists usually never find.
Pool Time:
Germany has lots of Public Pool areas, Water parks and all sorts of fun outdoor water activities for the entire family at an very affordable price; you can in most cases get an entry ticket for the entire family for under $20 and the entire family can have fun for the day… LOVING IT!! So I can’t wait to hit as many as we can and relax alongside the pool with lots of family and friends and yummy BBQ or German cooking
Food:
Food is a HUGE part of our trip; I can’t wait to introduce my family to the traditional German dinners and home cooked dishes my family loves to cook; I’m not big on food usually, but I actually started a diet just so I can pig out while we are there; soo many things I’ve missed and can’t wait to eat them all again. I was joking with my kids that the minute I get off the plane I want to order everything on the closest restaurant menu…lol… they still make fun of me… It’s almost like a kid in a candy store… Soo excited.
Zoo:
Yes, you’ve heard that right, we are going all the way to Germany and spend time at a Zoo. I have to proof to my laughing boss and family that our Zoo in Germany isn’t anything like in the US. We have Raccoons, Guiney Pigs and wild Pigs and many more animals in our zoo.. yes, in Florida all that is road kill, I know.. that’s why my husband and the kids as well as my Boss are laughing at me when I told them that Raccoons are a HUGE attraction at our Zoo….lol…
Bike Tours:
Did you know that Germany can be traveled by bike almost across the entire Country? Yup, Germany has an amazing bike trail and I can’t wait to enjoy the beautiful outdoors on a bike; along beautiful river banks, different cities and sightseeing attractions… A MUST when you are in Germany; so hop on the bike and enjoy the ride….
Take millions of pictures:
That’s my goal to take pictures of anything and everyone to keep this trip in our memories forever; My grandparents are getting up their in age and this may be the last time I will ever see them or some other family members and therefor lots of pictures is a MUST!! We are taking more then 5 memory cards…lol.. and my goal is to fill them all up and then some…
Wurzburg:
This is a cute little town, full of history, which is only 30 min or so from home but we will be spending a lot of time there walking the river and the castles, exploring all kind of different things.
Playmobile Fun Park:
This is a fun park that is on our TO DO LIST for the princess and maybe the boys will enjoy it, too; the boys always loved Playmobile and I think they will get a kick out of seeing the “live” Playmobile figures walking around.
Devils Cave:
We are also checking out some caves; I just think they are interesting and unlike anything I’ve seen here, especially in Florida; so this will be interesting for my husband and kids to see. Check out the Picture below; all this was grown natural inside the cave.. isn’t it amazing…. I remember lots of field trips with my class to this place….. can’t wait to see it again
Venice Italy:
Yes, you’ve read that correctly, we also have a trip plan to spend a day or two in Venice, Italy; it’s easy accessible by train; fairly inexpensive and Hubby and the kids requested it. I haven’t worked out all the details and hope we can make it to Italy for even just a short time.
There you have it.. our bucket list; I know we have 5 weeks and I still want to visit lots of family and hang out with as many friends as I can.. so can we do it, or will we have to skip a few things here and there and just relax… you have to come back and check out blog throughout our travels; I will post as often as I can. I do have limited Internet available to me.
