Paula Deen Crazy Monkey Bread Casserole

January 2, 2012 By Melanie Roberts 14 Comments

We went to a family Christmas party and someone made the Paula Deen Crazy Monkey Bread Casserole; it was soo yummy and looked so easy that I decided to make it for the kids for breakfast today; this is also something that can be done the night before, put in the fridge and then put in the oven the morning of; the smell is great and it can be customized to your family likes….

We added Walnuts and Blueberries since we had these around the house, but you can add raisins, chocolate chips, fruits or just nothing at all..:0)… it’s sooo yummy.

This was also fairly cheap, 4 cans of biscuits at Wal-Mart were $1.96 so fairly cheap!

This is what you need:
4 cans refrigerator biscuits (about 40)
1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup pecans, raisins and/or coconut, if desired

This is how to make it:

  1. Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces. Pour sugar and cinnamon into a plastic bag and mix.
  2. Add biscuit pieces, several at a time; shake to coat well.
  3. Place pieces in a buttered tube or Bundt pan until all are used.
Sprinkle layers with nuts, raisings or coconut.
  4. Bring brown sugar and butter to a boil in saucepan. Cool 10 minutes, then pour over top of biscuits.
  5. Bake at 350F for 45 minutes. Allow to cool 15 minutes before removing from pan. Turn upside down to serve.

I skipped step 4 and melted my butter and occasionally drizzled it over a layer of dough and sugar mixture…

Enjoy ….

I always make mine in a muffin pan, but this looks so much easier! I have to try it.

I’ve always made it in a bundt pan. I like the blueberry suggestion! I’ll have to give that a try the next time this one comes up on the breakfast rotation.

I have always made mine in a bundt too. I have never thought of adding blueberries and things like that. That sounds delicious!! I remember my mom making monkey bread when we were little and I just started making it for my son. He loves helping make it. W have also added banana chunks and walnuts which was also yummy!

We love monkey bread at our house, its fun because its something the kids can help make. We usually just put ours in a bread loaf pan since there’s only the 4 of us.
