Play This Way – Review & Giveaway

October 27, 2010 By Melanie Roberts

I just love to find products that are both fun and beneficial and this U Play Mat System  from Play it This Way is just that. This product is not only invented by a pediatrician but she is also a MOM(!!).. You know I love products from Mom for Mom.. Mom’s Rock and  know what our little ones need.

I was offered a review of the U Play Mat Starter set and couldn’t wait to get it in. There are soo many possibilities. So all you Homeschooling Mommies, or teachers and everyone in between listen up, this item is just awesome.

This is what I got ( minus the child…that’s my Toddler…*smile*)

The starter set includes:

1  – U shaped Mat with 15 clear pockets on its surface. The mat is 4 feet wide, and 3 feet deep. The innovative “U” shape allows the child to sit inside the opening of the “U” with full access to the 15 pockets.

1 -Accompanying tote bag. There are eight pockets allowing for all available card decks to be easily carried with the U-Play Mat in the tote bag. The tote is lightweight, surface washable

1 Set of Animal Cards

1 Set of Food Cards

You can check this set out on Play it This Way and also check out the video for  Play This Way Everyday for more information.

When I first saw this product I couldn’t even imagine the possibilities this would give me. The product  will help your child learn in so many ways.  My favorite is that I can teach my daughter German with this system ( or any language you like). The cards are simple, no words on the cards at all so it can be adapted into any language you like. We tried it and my daughter from the minute we sat down was able to repeat the names of the animals after I had told her the name in German. She matched the cards like a memory game, each set of cards comes with 2 cards per set. There are 10 games that each card set has to offer, or you can make up your own.

There are lot of ways you can play with this, like a memory game, or just match the item, or come up with your very own routine.

My daughter enjoyed very much seeing each card in the clear pocket in front of her, she had a ball sitting in the U shaped matt and she stayed focused for almost an hour (!!) before I told her we need to go and stop playing. She probly would still sit there.

We have this product a little over a week now and she has asked every single day to play with this. This is a simple item, no batteries , no Fancy writing,  no wisels and bells, but it is a HUGE hit in my house.

The System also comes with a little Booklet, which can be downloaded here for review, it has a lot of great tips and ideas on how to use the Play This Way System  in your everyday life during playtime.

The Play this Way System is really a great product for almost any age group starting I would say 12 month with some simple language / recognition like “Where is the Elephant” or “This is a Bear” to at least Pre -Kindergarten or even Special needs Children would benefit greatly from this System, it is simple yet a lot of fun.

Overall just an awesome product, and my favorite part like mentioned above is that I can use it in different languages. It is so hard to find items that I can use to teach a different language and this alone made it a winner. What a wonderful product. Thank you Play this Way team for allowing me to review such an awesome product for you.

Play this Way also will offer each of my readers  10% off  your order PLUS FREE SHIPPING if you use code CRAZYMOM10 go check out their store HERE. You know I love coupons and FREE shipping, so this is an awesome deal, check it out.

Now I have awesome news, Play this Way has agreed to give one of my readers this wonderful Starter set (value of $50.00). I’m so excited and honored to host this giveaway, thank you Play This Way for this gracious offer.

I learned that there are 10 games with each deck of cards. This play mat would be so beneficial for my toddler as she is struggling with her colors and I think it would give her great confidence.

learned the mat was developed with careful thought into materials, size and structure. There are rounded card edges (no poking), and there are no small parts or strings. All Play This Way Every Day products are designed and tested according to applicable rules and regulations. In the U.S., this includes acts enforced by the Consumer Products Safety Commission, and those defined by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). My little boy could learn so many wonderful things utilizing this mat

I learned that the U-Play doesn’t put words on the cards so that it can be easily used in multi-lingual households. I’d love to win because I think my son would learn a lot playing with this and his big sister could help him!

I learned that the U-Play Mat is meant to be used interactively, not alone and helps kids bond, communicate, and have fun with whoever they are playing with!

I would like to win this so that my son and I could play with it together and work on his speech, because he is a bit behind on it…seems like this would help with that.

This is such a convenient item. It’s play-time and learning time “on-the-go”. I love the fact that it is so versatile and has so many different things to learn with like the animal cards and the food cards and such.

I would love to win this because my church is just starting it’s nursery and this would be perfect for the toddlers and littler kids to play and not realize they are learning at the same time. I also like the idea of the mat to keep everything so handy and easy to pick up.

    God Bless,

I really like the pockets – it’s obvious a parent thought of this idea! I would love to win because as a homeschooling mom of 3 (soon to be 4) children, this would be used SO much and be so helpful to us. I can use it for my 3 year old daughter & also my 16th month right now. And my older 7 year old would have fun using it with his younger siblings.

I visited the site and learned Theme-based cards allow for children to create connections, engage in conversation, and develop cues for learning and remembering. We focused on multi-cultural, easy, fun themes and corresponding images that were applicable to the everyday life of a young child. As the children advance through these exercises, we do recommend combining card sets/themes to expand upon skills.

I want to win this because I homeschool my kids and don’t have a lot to do with my 2 year old. The others have books and materials etc. This would be perfect for him.
