Power Breakfast Smoothie with Wheat Germ and other unexpected ingredients #Yummy

March 20, 2013 By Melanie Roberts 3 Comments

Spinach, lettuce and Coconut Milk Breakfast shake 3

Since my Teen was diagnosed with major food allergies, we have been forced to look in the other direction to find healthy alternatives for his breakfast, lunch and dinner. Luckily he is not allergic to anything wheat. I found these Wheat Germ from Kretschmer at my local grocery store a few weeks ago and been using a spoon full on my breakfast cereal and yogurts, but after my Teen got the diagnosis that he can not eat any kind of meet for dinner or lunch (besides beef), I started to think. I could make him a hearty Breakfast smoothie and sprinkle the Wheat Germ on for him to get extra Vitamin E and Folic Acid and he won’t even know that lettuce and spinach are part of the breakfast.

Spinach, lettuce and Coconut Milk Breakfast shake

I used a handful or two of Spinach, a handful of Lettuce, the one with all the veggies in in like carrots, cabbage etc,, a cup of Coconut Milk (Since he is allergic t Almond’s, Almond Milk was out the question) and 2 Tablespoons of Kretschmer Wheat Germ, closed it all up and blended it for a few seconds…. Voila, in less than 5 minutes his breakfast drink was ready and he was in the car drinking it on the way to the bus.

The nice thing, between the sweetness of the Lettuce and the sweetness of the Coconut Milk, no additional sugar was needed and he had a delicious (still had no idea that Lettuce is part of his breakfast) drink that I now can feel comfortable with that he gets vitamins and minerals while eating something healthy.

The Kretschmer Wheat Germs are nutty and crunchy in taste and just perfect to add to your every day breakfast, lunch and even dinner. You can sneak some extra Vitamins into your kids meals with just a tablespoon or two full of the Wheat Germ and feel good about it. I know I feel great knowing my kids get some additional Vitamins from the foods they love.

Have your tried Wheat Germ? It really is great on any dish, sweet or savory and will enhance the crunch factor by 100%, trust me, this Mom knows.
