As a mom I’m always conscious as to what I feed my family. This year I made it my resolution that I will feed my family delicious meals with real ingredients. So far so good and it really isn’t all that hard to do.
I’ve shared a bunch of our favorite meal ideas over the last few weeks and I surprise myself every week with more recipe ideas and how simple it can be to feed your family without breaking the bank and dishing up delicious fresh meals, all homemade, too.
My resolution wasn’t just for the family, I want everyone in my house to eat real food, whole ingredients and get their natural vitamins and minerals, that included the dogs. I love my fur babies and they are spoiled rotten and if I had the time I would totally home cook for them too just so I know what they are scarfing down is good for them.
Luckily I found a real dog food that fit my bill and budget and best part, it is available at many local retailers like Target, Walmart and grocery stores making it easy to pick up while I’m out and about picking up all the items I need for dinner. Well… I was hoping to keep DISH from Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® a secret, but you know what. It’s too good, to keep it a secret. I want everyone to know how much my pups love the DISH Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe with Veggies & Fruit kibbles. They get excited over dinner every night.
It melts my heart when I see the pups get excited over a meal, I know they are dogs and usually eat whatever you put in front of them. However, I did tell you my pups are spoiled and they have dumped over their bowl more than once signaling to me they don’t like the food. I have many bags of dog food that no one will touch and I can’t even donate because they are open. What can I say, my picky eating habit has moved on to the pups, too.
That made it all to special when I brought home the DISH Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe with Veggies & Fruit and I saw the big giant carrots and meat pieces inside the bag. I felt like my guys would have a wonderful meal and to share something funny, all the dogs picked out the big giant carrot pieces and moved them off to the side till they could check them out. They were not used to all this real food and whole food in their kibbles. Once they got used to them they are now gobbling up the carrots and they are their favorite part and leave them till the very end and then eat them and crunch on them. Funny how dogs act sometimes.
We found our food to keep the pups energized and all the minerals and vitamins they need. Now keep in mind switching food should be done gradually. Introduce the food by incorporating it into your current dog food over the course of 7-10 days. Slowly replace your dog’s current food with DISH until it’s completely switched over. So no rush, take your time and eventually your pups will get all the deliciousness they deserve.
Did you know that Rachael’s personal proceeds go to Rachael’s Rescue, which was created to help shelter pets in need. To date, she has donated over $10MM. This money has gone toward food, medical supplies and treatments for these unfortunate animals. Pretty amazing isn’t it?
While oohing and ahhing over the dog food (I know crazy, who does that, right?? Check out the DISH from Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® and you will, too) I decided to make a similar whole food dinner for the family, why not, right?
We love bowl meals and rice bowls has been a favorite in our home for weeks now. We usually make Saturday night our bowl night and line up different ingredients that we have in the fridge and let everyone create their very own bowl for dinner. You can make whatever you like, trust me it’s fun and the kids will love it, too. We usually end up with a Mexican rice bowl but since I bring out lots of fruit and veggies along with either rice or pasta and meat the kids can create whatever they like and how much they like of each. Super simple and everyone will get the real food they deserve.
Last weekend we made Cilantro Cream dressing to go with our brown rice bowl. Everyone loved it. It was the perfect pairing for our bowl Saturday. Check out my recipe below, it is so easy and will be something different.
Bowl meals can be so easy and bring the family together from feeding the pups their Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® bowl to dishing up a homemade rice bowl for your kids, why not make it a family affair all the way around.
How do you dish up dinner for your family? Have you ever made rice bowl night? I encourage you to check out my rice bowl for the humans in your house and grab the coupon to pick up a bag of DISH from Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® to satisfy the four legged babies as well.

I make a similar dressing/sauce for our tacos and it is a big hit. I’ll definitely be trying this variation. It’s great that I don’t have to feel guilty eating wholesome meals in front of my dog- now she can enjoy the real, whole, ingredients too! #client

Thanks Melanie! I did it and saved it. The cilantro lime dressing is so delicious. I made bowls similar to yours, but I wrapped a flour tortilla on a oven proof bowl and baked it in the oven until crisp. It was all so good I think we’re going to have it again this week. Thanks.

Yayyy too glad it worked and I’m too excited that you liked the dressing. Love hearing feedback from my readers… Thanks too much. We love it, too and I wish I could bottle it sometimes cause we make it so often. Perfect now with the BBQ season upon us, too and great idea about the Tortilla, will try it this week, too
