It’s back to school in Central Florida and besides uniforms, backpacks, lunchboxes and school supplies I decided to surprise my Teen with a new smile in time for his first day at a brand new school. There is nothing more important for a Teenager then his looks and pearly whites are the first thing his new friends (and yes… girls….) will notice, so I wanted to help him out and all on a budget of course.
While shopping at my local Target for all the things the kids need to head back to school I also wanted to find a few items for the Teen to keep his oral hygiene the best he can be in the few minutes he spends in the bathroom in the morning. His bus gets here at 6 am so really not that much to get all handsome and cute for the girls, but plenty of time to put his best smile forward.
I came across a display for power toothbrushes; I’ve seen them before and always loved the idea, but never liked that idea that after the toothbrush has been used up that you need to throw the entire power toothbrush into the trash. I always thought that was such a waste and never considered buying them since it would have been cheaper for a manual brush and just as easy; but the display from Phillips for their Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush caught my eyes.
Not only did the display stand out because it was at an end cap and I walked right by, the display also states that the Sonicare PowerUp brush would remove up to 2x more plaque than a manual toothbrush and would give you a month’s worth of brush strokes in a day!! After reading the display I had to check out the Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush to see what it was all about and to my surprise it wasn’t all one piece. Actually it had replacement brushes that you can purchase, eliminating the need to toss the entire unit when you are replacing your toothbrush. I loved that!! I also really liked the price for a powerful toothbrush I would expect to pay over $50 easy, but the sign in front of the Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush said $17.99;
I quickly price checked, that couldn’t be right. Low and behold that was the sale price, regular is $19.99. That was amazing. I loved the colors it came in, blue or orange (Go Gators…lol) and perfect for a boy or girl. The packaging was super easy to see thru and I was able to see the entire brush without opening the package. Great idea; made my decision easy to surprise my Teen with a brand new Power Toothbrush to get his pearly whites all nice and good looking in time for back to school.
At home I decided to put together a little goodie bag for the teen; you may remember that in Germany every child that starts Kindergarten gets a sugar cone filled with goodies from toothbrushes to candy and school supplies; since my Teen is starting at a new school I made him a “Welcome” bag as well. I included some of his favorite gums, candy, books to read for the bus ride and of course the Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush that I found during my Target trip.
My Teen was super excited to find his goodie bag at breakfast the other day and quickly put a smile on when he saw his new Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush; he quietly whispered “You knew that’s what I wanted, didn’t you Mom”. He instantly grabbed his new toothbrush and couldn’t stop smiling; he loved the gentle yet powerful clean this new brush gave him and the clean feeling it left on his teeth. He brushed 3 times a day, to my surprise without me telling him and he saw a big change in about a week.
Now school will start next week and he will be all smiles and walk into the new school hallway with lots of confidence and a bright new smile, all because I saw a display of the Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush at Target.
I bet you are as impressed as I’m and in case you are ready to check out the Philips Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush for yourself, be sure to visit Philips Sonicare on Facebook or follow on Twitter and once you check them out I bet you will say Goodbye to your manual toothbrush and never look back. We are using our manual toothbrushes now to clean the sink, the grout on the tiles and many other things but not for our teeth anymore. I also found a funny video about the manual toothbrush that you have to check out to get a few chuckles in before you retire the toothbrush to manual labor.
So, are you still using a Manual Toothbrush after hearing how much my Teen and all of us love the power brush? Would love to hear your thoughts and how you keep your Teen happy this new School year.
Happy brushing ….

Just for the fact it reduces plaque by such a large percentage is reason for all of us to use it. How can you walk away from that benefit?
