Ahhhhh I have been quiet lately, things have just gotten so busy around here with the kids gearing up for the end of the year, the dogs constantly being sick, with three there is always something and the cat that we took in as a stray, adjusting to life on our porch, yeah… It’s a crazy world at the crazy mom’s house for sure. How about making some cupcakes?
So, the other day I got off work early and wanted to surprise my family with a special after dinner treat and while I was driving home from the office, the long 45 min county road drive, I had plenty of time to dream in the past. I love remembering how things were when I was little, bring back memories from days long gone and while the evening sun was bright red on his way down I remembered this one drink that my grandma always made me and I loved it. I had no idea what it was called since I grew up in Germany but I knew it had cherries and orange juice and it always looked lovely.
After a quick Google search I discovered the same drink is called Shirley Temple, I had no idea but was super excited that I found a recipe and hopefully can pass those memories on to my children and serve it pool side the next time we are out in the sun.
I didn’t have all the ingredients to make the drink the way I remembered my grandma always made it. I will have to give you an IOU on that, I promise I will post it in the next few weeks but in the meantime I looked around and came up with this Shirley Temple Cupcake idea. It was delicious and reminded me so much of home. My kids loved it and hubby asked for me to make these at our next family gathering. I guess you can call them a success.
Isn’t this a great treat? Does it remind you of your childhood, too? Ohhh the memories are the best, I wish I could just bottle them forever! Sad thing my kids look at me strange when I talk about the good ol’ days and they say “Mom… Grow up we are in 2016 now”… I just smile and think “One day they will look at 2016 with their kids and dream like I’m dreaming of my childhood and then their kids will say “Mom, Dad… Move on we are in 2046”. I can’t wait till they reminisce in their memories, till then I will dish up recipes and creations that remind me of mine.
Would love to hear what you think of my Shirley Temple Cupcake creation, it sure would be a hit at your Memorial Day party in a few weeks. Leave me a comment below, you know i love to hear from you and don’t forget to pin it so you will always have the recipe handy and don’t forget to check out my other recipes, I have lots of treats, cupcakes and dinner ideas there.
P.s. I used my *Bellini Kitchen maker to whip these up in no time. I’m sure you remember how much I love my Bellini, it cooks, it chops, it stirs, it whips, soo much more and helps me with all my baking needs. It took like 2 minutes to make these cupcakes and the frosting was another 5 minutes max. You so should check it out, I’m totally addicted and use it ALL the time in my kitchen and create new recipes for my family and all while I’m a crazy, super busy mom that takes care of 3 kids, 3 dogs one cat, a husband and works outside the home. Such a big help!! *Affiliate Link

I think the Shirley Temple Cupcakes look delicious and are very pretty! I remember feeling so grown up when I was served a Shirley Temple…usually at a wedding or when out to dinner. It does bring back good memories.
