Well, guess what … I’m a cat mom! I know, I know. I have my peanut gallery and I love my pups and I never really was a cat person. Don’t get me wrong, they are cute and all but somehow cats and I well… Just never hit it off. As faith would have it this little gray kitten walked up and down our street one day earlier in the year just Meowing for hours, almost like she was looking for her family. Yet no one knew who she belonged too and she had been in the neighborhood for some time. My neighbor and I kind of traded days and fed her but that was about it. Yes… She was a stray and well… I’m a sucker!
One day, she decided I was her mom and she wasn’t leaving me ever! She has been living on my front porch ever since and she has adopted us as her family. I guess she took matters into her own “paws”. I have to say, I love this little girl to pieces and get excited every night when I come home and she sits in the driveway waiting for me. Long gone are her days of roaming the street, she is a permanent resident on my screened porch, toys, litter box and all. What can I say, one look into those eyes and I was in love!
One small tiny problem, I have no idea how to care for cats and she loves to play and cuddle. We had bought her some toys and boy have you seen the sticker price? Well.. Yeah, that had to change and while I picked up her favorite food at K-Mart the other day during my lunch break, I got a few toy ideas. I grabbed her food, she totally loves the Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Grain Free Wet Food for Cats. Can you say spoiled? My baby gets only the best! I also picked up different yarn and a few cat ball/bells. I knew my little one loves anything stringy so I figured I could get the entire family involved and make some cat toys.
We took two different colors of yarn, cut them into the same length and braided them together, added a bell/ball on the bottom. Simple as that! Not only will you end up with a fun cat toy that will give your little one hours of fun, you will also keep the kids occupied for hours and using their fine motor skills and even imagination. My daughter loved it and what she loved more was the outcome, our little one spend hours playing with it, wrapping herself around, chasing it, tossing it, you name it, she did it (Oh, btw…Never leave your pet unattended with your toys). A win win for all! Hey, remember the kids will be out for the summer and need something to do!! *hint… hint*
Another thing I love to do is attach the cat balls/bells to a simple ribbon in different lengths and tie them around a plant or a branch, instant toy and super cheap. My little one loves when the branch jumps in the air after she hits it and tries to catch it. I just love watching her play around.
If you play hard you have to eat well, too. That’s exactly why I feed my little one Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Grain Free Wet Food for Cats, her favorite is the Ocean Fish-a-licious® and the Paw Lickin’ Chicken & Liver comes in close second. I feel good about feeding her the Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® for many reasons but especially because it’s real food with wholesome ingredients and has all the Natural plus vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients that my little one needs to grow and stay healthy. Each delicious, wholesome recipe is made with real chicken or seafood. There are never any grains, artificial flavors or artificial preservatives, meat by-products, or fillers – just essential vitamins, minerals and taurine for a tasty food your cat will love and you will feel good about feeding!
Did you know that Rachael’s personal proceeds go to Rachael’s Rescue, which was created to help shelter pets in need? Pretty amazing, to date, she has donated over $14MM. This money has gone toward food, medical supplies and treatments for these unfortunate animals. A woman after my own heart, I love it. If I could I would take all these babies in but since I’m already to capacity at my house I can feel good about knowing that if I feed my little one it will also help other animals. Ahhh… That melts a pet lover’s heart doesn’t it? So check out and find a store near you, there are plenty of them and pick up a bag of the Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Zero Grain Food for Cats or a few tubs of the Nutrish® Grain Free Wet Food for Cats and make difference, too.

My cat loves to play with anything that looks like trash- an old box- some string. I think she’d really like your yarn toy! #client

I may make some cat toys for my two. Maybe giving them their own yarn toy will keep them away from my yarns lol…probably not, but fun anyway.
