When we went to Germany last summer, we saw those “Laufraeder” everywhere, I guess you can call them “Walking bikes”. The little ones all had one, even as little as 18 month and you saw them zooming on the sidewalk like a real big bike. I loved it and it brought back memories when I was little, we all had “Laufraeder” and I thought it would be a lot of fun for my daughter to have one in the US.
Shipping wouldn’t have been cheap, so I had to leave the “walking Bike” behind and come up with a different solution once we got back home. Riding a bike isn’t easy for little ones and even with training wheels not always simple. Thank god for a new company, called FirstBIKE . The inventor, Ralf Coerschulte, an avid German cyclist, product designer, and father, developed FirstBIKE with one goal: to build the best balance bike for younger children, allowing them to learn to ride a bike intuitively and without stress.
I got super excited when I saw the bike available in the US, it is best suited for ages 2-5 and will help your little one learn how to ride a bike without ever using training wheels. FirstBIKE is so simple, all your little one will do is “walk” and that alone will teach him how to balance and once they get older, balancing a bike with 2 wheels is a breeze.
Our bike arrived and there wasn’t much to be assembled, my Teen put the bike together in about 10 minutes, following the instructions in the box.
Our bike came with street tires and even a brake; I was impressed with the quality, but honestly, that’s exactly what I would expect from a German product, very high quality and durability. The bike comes in a few different color options, like blue, pink, green and red. We decided on the green bike, making it easy to share with cousins and friends in the neighborhood. But trust me, your little one would want a FirstBIKE of their own as soon as they figure out how fast they can zoom through the street, the yard and even the house.
Isn’t this super cool? Just imagine all the fun your little one will have in a safe way, no worries of falling off. Your little one is in full control of this lightweight FirstBIKE and since the seat is adjustable, making it super easy for those little feet to reach the ground. Adjusting the seat up or down is done with the knob on the front of the seat, very simple and easy to do.
What a great product that finally hit the US market and I can already see the Birthday and Christmas gifts I will be giving to the kids this year, every one under 5ish should have one of these FirstBIKEs, you can have a race in your neighborhood. I know they are a blast, my princess sure had fun when she saw her FirstBIKE . She hasn’t stopped walking yet and gets better every day, soon she will be faster then her bubbas on the big bike and will be able to keep up with them and not try to chase them with her big bike and the training wheels always get stuck somewhere.
For more information, be sure to visit FirstBIKE on the web and check out all the cool FirstBIKE they have to offer, they range in price from $129 to $199, depending on the model. I wish my kids had one of these when they were younger. I swear I still remember chasing my daughter down the hill by our house. She would never remember her brakes!

I’d like to win this for my 4 year old daughter. We like to walk around the local track and she’d enjoy riding her bike while we walk. Also I like how it would help her learn balance before getting a “big girl” bike.
