Summer will be fun if you put TWIX Bites in it and #EatMoreBites

Summer is knocking at the door and before long all the kids will be out of school. If your kids are anything like mine and you will hit the road this summer, I bet you will hear “I’m bored” … “I have nothing to do” … “I’m hungry” … “Are we there yet?” all the way to your final destination. Do you pack snack? Do you pack chocolate? Do you have a plan?

This year we are packing up and heading to Miami so we can catch a plane to Germany. Yup, you heard me right, Germany here we come! But before we can set foot onto the plane we have a 4 hr. car ride ahead of us and I decided to make it a little easier on me and the kids this year by pre-packing some fun snack boxes that should keep them busy for a while, hopefully all the way till we get to Germany.

I love to head to Walmart before any of our trips and see what travel items I can find and what other little things that I think I might have to have for the trip. This time I was looking specific for the kids to make some fun boxes, I know some items aren’t allowed on the plane, but I could keep those for the car ride. So many choices and so little money. What to do, what to do?

I walked down the snack isle and the new TWIX Bites caught my eye along with a few other bites like MILKY WAY and SNICKERS, I grabbed a few and now I had my base for a delicious trail Mix. After a few minutes I decided on the rest of the items along with some coloring books, crayons, stickers, hand sanitizer and baby wipes. You never know when all this will come in handy.

I was super excited to put together some snack & travel boxes and I’m mostly excited about my version of a Trail Mix, I think my kids will love it; I added all their favorite snack items and no more open baggies everywhere or crushed snacks, they are all nicely in a mason jar; you could use Ziploc baggies, Tupperware boxes or whatever else you have; I love my mason jars and they close nicely and won’t spill. They also fit very well in my carry container.

There you have it, take a fun container and fill it with the things your kids like and don’t forget to add Hand Sanitizer, some wipes in case they get dirty fingers and a drink. We drink lots of water and it fits perfect into my carry container. The only thing that I won’t be able to take onto the plane to keep my princess happy is the water, but we get drinks on the plane, so that will be fine. She will have lots of coloring, creating and reading to do on our 10 hour haul to Germany.
