So far you learned all the basics of couponing and where to find the coupons, but what is your target price for an item you are willing to pay? Some items I will never pay for, others only a small amount. Now the prices vary greatly from state to state even from store to store in some cases, so you kind of have to set your own “Target price” and stick to it. In the beginning my target price was a lot higher than what it is now, but put a goal for each item that you always need and that’s when you buy more than the usual amount, once the price hit’s your target price category. The longer you coupon and you know what item is on sale at what time, or what item hardly ever comes on sale, then you can adjust your target price for the items.
Here is a list of my target prices for items that I know will be that price here in the Lakeland, central Florida area.
I will never pay more than.. $$$$ for this item :
TP– is really hard to get a good sale, other states almost always get it free.. not on my “cheap” list right now, I try to get it cheap with overage on other coupons/ products
Paper Towels– is really hard to get a good sale, other states almost always get it free … we don’t buy it unless it’s $.30/ a roll…. So we hardly ever have any.. we use cloth and love it
12pk Dr.Pepper/Pepsi/Coke– 1.25 pk
2L drinks– anything under $.50/ bottle, but I still will not buy a ton.. if I have it the kids drink it in minutes….
Pasta– FREE
Rice– .05/lb.
Bread– .79/24oz. loaf
Chips- .75 bag
Block Cheese– $1/lb.
Shredded Cheese – $.66/ 8oz bag
Household Cleaners – Free or if I need it $.50/ bottle
Detergent– FREE or $1/ bottle
Ground Chuck– $1.99/lb ( other states will get it below $1 not here in central Fl L )
Chicken Breasts bnls-sknls- $1.99/lb.
Milk– here in central Florida almost impossible to find a deal unless you use overage from other coupons/items $3.19 I jump if I get it for $2.69/ Gallon
Shampoo– Free or $.50 depending on the brand
Toothpaste and brushes- Free or $.25 ea.
Deodorant– Free or $.50
Yogurt Free or $.25/ 4 pack
Fruits – anything less than $1/lb.
Veggies – anything less than$1/lb.
Butter – Free – $.50/ tub
What are your target prices for items that you always buy/ need? I know I have more, but can’t really think of them right now. BTW with “target” price I don’t mean the price at the Target Store, tome Target price is the price I’m willing to pay at any store for that item.
