Its time again to share some of my favorite features about Walmart Best Plans. Summer is upon us and everyone is hiding the road so I thought why not share a few of our favorite apps that we use to keep the kids busy on the road.
I splurged and picked up a new phone for me for the trip this summer during a recent Walmart trip. We aren’t doing a huge trip just a few day trips to Orlando, Tampa and in the general Central Florida area to visit friends and family, beaches, parks and just have fun, but we will be on the road for some time. If your kids are anything like mine they get bored 2 minutes into the trip, I found a few fun Apps that will keep them busy on any road trip and I think you should check them out.
Apps we love on our Android Walmart Family Mobile Phone for the Summer:
-
YouTube: youtube.com is a great app to have on your phone to keep the kids entertained with movies, and songs while in the car, why spend extra on an in car entertainment system when you Walmart Family Mobile can do the same thing.
-
Netflix: If you are a Netflix subscriber that is another great app to have on the phone that will keep the kids entertained for hours with their favorite movies and shows.
-
PBS Apps: They are actually wonderful learning apps for the kids and they are great for on the go learning, a lot of free apps and some are a buck or two, so worth it in my opinion, love learning on the go.
-
Math Blaster has always been a favorite in our home even when the boys where little Math Blaster was a MUST on every PC now that they have an app it shouldn’t be missing on any phone, perfect for the kids to practice their mad math skills. There is a free version as well as a paid version, up to you which way to go, I love free games!
-
Reading Sight words is another fun app for the little ones to stay busy on the road, my daughter has used this for a while and enjoys it and even though she is now in 2nd grade it still helps her learn her sight words every day.
-
Kids Doodle is also a fun app that lets kids draw while on the go. I know my kids love to color and why not get a fun app that they enjoy and won’t make a mess in the car with.
There you have a few of our must have apps for the kids while on the go this summer to keep them busy, now since the ZTE ZMAX is a fairly large phone, currently on rollback at Walmart on their best plan and unlimited Text, Talk and Data/Web through Family Mobile, I needed a case.
I wasn’t able to find a case for this hot new phone, did I tell you it sells for only $179.00? The Walmart Family Mobile service is $29.88/month (for the first line) Unlimited Talk, Text & Data service plan which includes up to 1G of 4G LTE data, such an awesome deal. So I decided to make my own phone case that will also hold some of my credit cards and driver’s license during the trip so I wouldn’t have to lug around my big purse.
It was so simple to make and the outcome is even better than expected. I love my ZTE ZMAX in the case and it works perfectly even with the plastic baggie screen saver. Check out my step by step below to make your very own. Took me about 20 minutes to make and I picked up all the materials at Walmart along with the phone, one stop shop, I love it!
This is what you need to make your own DIY ZTE ZMAX phone case:
Now isn’t that simple? Doesn’t it look super cool? I’m so excited and the best part, it was so easy and is very sturdy, I kind of surprised myself. You could add more pockets or add another plastic sleeve for your ID, the possibilities to costumes this to your likes are endless, as long as you follow the basic instructions.
I do have to say making the case, the cutting matt was a lifesaver and I highly encourage you to get one if you don’t have it, the tape sticks to it so you can cut it and it peels off easily. LOVED IT! Now you know how I will keep the kids busy during our summer trips and how I keep my new phone dressed in style. My very own #Tips4Trips and I hope they will come in handy during your summer adventures.
Also remember that each tape is front and back, I cut the front strips, peeled them off the matt and cut the back strips the same size and taped them together so front and back are no longer sticky and look identical. If you like you could tape it down on cardboard and cover front and back with tape that way, totally up to you.
Have you ever made your own phone case? Would love to hear your outcome. Do you have any MUST have apps that I need to check out for the kids? Let me know, I’m always up for new apps to keep them entertained.

I will have to check out this unlimited data plan as well as see if Walmart offers it in my area. The price is certainly right and a lot cheaper that what I am paying now.

I love the phone cover. However, so many of the smart phones are different sizes, do you have the instructions to customize this pattern to the size needed for different phones?
Melanie Roberts says
I don’t but it’s not that hard to make it a few inches smaller if your phone is smaller or a few inches bigger this phone was the size of the iPhone 6 so fairly big size and most phones are like that nowadays, you could make the same size and just tape the pouch a bit closer so the phone wouldn’t be wiggling around that’s an option, too. Hope that helps
