The Little Mermaid is swimming on DVD near you #Review

The Little Mermaid

Guess who is back from the Volt and swimming in the open sea? Yes… it’s Ariel, the Little Mermaid. I loved watching Ariel when I was little and now that I have my very own red head it was just natural to sit down and watch Ariel for our Family Movie night. My Princess loved it. She had never seen the movie and couldn’t get over that Sebastian is the same name as her brother’s middle name (well, it’s a German name we had to keep the heritage alive..lol) and she loved that Ariel had the same red hair.

The DVD is wonderful, digitally re-done with love and care and the soundtracks are amazing; we just loved singing along and enjoying an old movie in a new digital age.

If you have never seen Ariel, let me tell you a bit about the movie; Ariel (voiced by Jodi Benson), is a free-spirited mermaid, who is off on the adventure of a lifetime with her best friend, the adorable Flounder (voiced by Jason Marin), and the reggae-singing Caribbean crab Sebastian (voiced by Samuel E. Wright) at her side. But it will take all of her courage and determination to make her dreams come true—and save her father’s beloved kingdom from the sneaky sea witch Ursula (voiced by Pat Carroll).

The new DVD set also includes many special features; check them out:

  • All-New Music Video
  • @ Disney Animation
  • Disney Intermission
  • Deleted Character
  • The Real Little Mermaid: Live Action Reference Model
  • Part of Her World: Jodi Benson’s Voyage To New Fantasyland
  • Howard’s Lecture
  • Classic DVD Bonus Features

It was a great family time with this Family Favorite and we enjoyed all the new features like the new music as well as all the familiar characters. We loved the deleted characters and had a blast checking out all the bonus features.

It’s hard to say what my all-time favorite Disney movie is as they’ve made so many great movies! The Little Mermaid is my daughter’s though. Will have to pick up a copy of this for my grand daughter for Christmas!

My daughter absolutely loved this movie when she was younger. So glad it is back. I love these blasts from the past.

This film is such a timeless classic. It brings back so many happy memories for me of when I saw it for the first time. I’m actually singing Under the Sea as I post this comment.

I did pick this up and can’t wait to have a movie night to watch it. Have you seen any rebate offers yet? I’ve searched with no luck so far.
