The Wild Thornberry’s Season 1 Review & Giveaway

May 19, 2011 By Melanie Roberts

The Wild Thornberrys: Season One

If you have a Tween in the home, this is a DVD set for you; My Tween had a ball let me tell you why…..

The hit series follows the Thornberry family as they travel the world in their Communications Vehicle (or CommVee) looking for rare animals to film. After an encounter with an African shaman, their youngest child Eliza was given the power to speak to animals! Every episode in this adventure-packed DVD set follows Eliza as she comes face-to-face with an assortment of animals, continents and danger. Encounter wildlife in all its natural glory and eavesdrop on Eliza’s conversations with silverback gorillas, pythons, crested grebes, tapirs, capybaras, antelopes and opossums while the CommVee travels on!

Vibrant animation, exotic locations, charming storytelling plus an all-star voice cast, including Lacey Chabert (Party Of Five), Tim Curry (The Adventures Of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius) and Flea (The Red Hot Chili Peppers) make season one of The Wild Thornberry’s an epic family adventure. Featuring all 20 action-packed episodes, the collectible 4-DVD box set is priced to own at a suggested retail price of $29.93 and will no doubt attract a new audience of kids as well as young adults who grew up watching the television series.

The release of these DVDs is part of Nickelodeon’s commitment to bring back classic shows. Nickelodeon will also launch a new nighttime programming block this fall on TeenNick called “The ’90s Are All That!,” featuring a rotating selection of iconic live-action and animated shows from Nickelodeon’s 1990s.

This 4Disc DVD set has 20 Episodes of the Wild Thornberry’s and runs for about 7.5 hours; just perfect for a rainy day movie marathon at home, just make sure to grab lots of popcorn… you don’t want to keep getting up and miss the fun; My Tween loves this show. There are not that many shows that are geared towards tweens, and this is defiantly one he can relate to. We always enjoyed watching Nickelodeon and this was not any different, it kind of reminds me of a grown up Rugrest show… funny, yet totally kid friendly. Wonderful job and I’m glad they brought this 90’s classic back on a DVD format for everyone to enjoy.

Brace yourself for a wild ride through jungles, rain forests, cities and deserts spanning the globe with TThe Wild Thornberrys: Season One. Join Eliza Thornberry and her secret gift of gab (she can talk to animals!) in four action-packed DVDs that bring you face-to-face with danger as Eliza and friends traverse the cliffs and crags of mountainous Zaire, try to escape poachers in Tanzania, stumble upon evil hunters bent on destroying the rain forest in Brazil and discover gold on the Galapagos Islands. Plus you’ll encounter wildlife in all its natural glory, including silverback gorillas, pythons, crested grebes, tapirs, capybaras, antelopes, opossums and more! So hang on for action, adventure and a bit of education!

If you want to share this DVD set with your Tween, Teen or just for yourself, this would be a fun family DVD set to have; you can purchase your own DVD set starting May 17, 2011 through Amazon.com or any other retailer that sells DVD’s; this DVD retails for $29.93; OR

The reason that I would love to win this is that my younger kids (6 and 8) have never gotten to watch the Wild Thornberries. My older two (13 and 15) absolutely loved them when they were younger!

When my older kids (teens now) were younger we would curl up together and watch The Wild Thornberrys. It was our favorite cartoon. I have been waiting and watching for it to finally come out on dvd. Now, we can watch and reminisce over all the great episodes of season one. Oh and I think my 6 yr old daughter will enjoy watching it for the first time. She reminds me alot of Eliza!
