As most of you know, I’m a busy mom of three and being sick isn’t really an option in our busy schedules. I’m expected to show up for my day job 5 days a week, the kids are expected to be in school every day and of course all the after school activities that expect everyone to be there as well. We all know how it goes, our lives are busy and you don’t have to be a Mom, Dad or grandma to have a busy life. Nowadays, everyone is busy from Students to seniors, everyone has a busy schedule and a Dr. Appointment or #HealthcareClinic isn’t something you want to add to your schedule.
I’m not sure about you, but my kids always tend to get sick on a holiday weekend or after 5pm. No idea why, but I’m certain kids are born with that ability to stress mom out a little more trying to figure out if it’s something we need to find a night Dr. or if we can wait till their pediatrician will open back up the earliest business day that may or may not have an appointment available for me at that time.
Our Pediatrician is amazing, they have special evening hours and even have a Dr. on call all night as well as on the weekends; however all this comes with a price. I love the idea and the first time one of the kids got sick on a Friday night I took my Pediatricians office up on their offer and called the Dr. on call to get my sick little one in. Well, it was great at the time. Till… the Doctor bill arrived. See, our regular Dr. visit with insurance is already $160 each time we go see him, now they added a night call fee and weekend fee to our already high bill and we ended up with almost $400 Dr. bill just to find out we should take Tylenol and watch the temp till after the weekend. I wasn’t a happy camper and now I really think twice if I call the Dr. or if the kids really need to be seen.
With my daughter having JRA (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis), my teen having severe Food allergies and another teen with Asthma (I know, we have every child covered with some kind of illness…) I really don’t want to take chances, but also can’t afford a high Doctor bill. I came across a wonderful solution just for those times where I need some reassurance or maybe need some medication for the kids. My local Walgreens has a Healthcare Clinic so check out if yours has one, too I know lots of Walgreens have a Healthcare Clinic in Tampa .
When I saw that at my local Walgreens I knew I had to check it out online at their #HealthcareClinic website. I was pleasantly surprised what I found.

Walk-Ins Welcome & Appointments Available: WOW… I could grab the kids and run to my Walgreens Healthcare Clinic if I’m in doubt and I can even walk in, no long wait on the phone trying to get a hold of the Dr. or even hearing “Sorry, we can’t take you in today”.
-
Open 7 days a week and Weeknights, too: That is a BIG BIG plus, like I told you, my kids always get sick in the evening OR on the weekends. Love that I can walk in 7 days a week!

Walgreens Healthcare Clinic accepts most insurance, that isn’t always a given anymore. I went to a local Children’s Hospital for my daughter’s treatment and found out that my insurance, which is a big national company no longer is accepted; thank god that Walgreens still takes us.
-
Takes patients 18 month and older: This isn’t really an issue for us, my youngest is 5; But it is a big plus for all your Mom’s with little ones; the little ones do get sick a lot and that will help you out a lot. Love that you can bring them as young as 18 month, way to go Walgreens!
-
Board Certified Family Nurse practitioner: Totally awesome and makes me feel even more comfortable running up the street to my local Walgreens Healthcare Clinic in case I have someone run a temp or an ear infection.
-
On site Pharmacy: That is another big plus. We all know how miserable it can be with a sick child that maybe has an ear infection; running to the Dr. sitting there for an hour, running to the pharmacy waiting again to get your prescription that the Dr. may not have called in yet; No more nonsense; Your Healthcare Clinic is right there by the pharmacy and you can get your prescription in one stop shop ~ that is AWESOME!
I think for our family the #HealthcareClinic at Walgreens is the way to go and will be much cheaper for us in the long run. I love all the features they offer from prevention & wellness to treatment and even monitoring & managing ongoing medical conditions. I’m relieved that I don’t have to worry anymore what to do “if” (really not if anymore… rather WHEN) the kids get sick, should I or should I not take them. Walgreens took the guesswork out for me and now I have a simple solution. This busy mom doesn’t have to rearrange a schedule in our busy life and we all can be happy and healthy in 2014.
For more information about the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic, be sure to visit the Website, you can check for locations near you, see current wait times, schedule appointments, see more about your visit, check out Walgreens Healthcare Clinic Services even check your Insurance and Prices.
How about you? Would you visit a Walgreens Healthcare Clinic with your children? Do you think it would save you time and money? Would love to hear your thoughts; I’m all excited and can’t wait to check it out (well… let’s take this back… not anytime soon though).

I will have to check and see if Walgreens Healthcare Clinic is available in my area. I will also let my son know about this for his children,.

I have two Walgreens stores within 10 minutes of my house, but unfortunately neither of them have Healthcare Clinics. I’d definitely drive a little further out of my way to find one for the convenience and cost savings though! #client
