Walk in Clinics are so yesterday we use Amwell today #MomsLoveAmwell

Amwell Medical Services #ad 6

Ever had an earache? A major headache that just wouldn’t go away or a sinus infection? I’m sure most of us did, what is even worse usually in my experience these things show up on a Friday late in the evening or a Saturday while my clinic isn’t open.

Drives me crazy, our nearest walk in is like 45 minutes away and who wants to spend all day at a walk in clinic in a different town while not feeling well? Who wants to drive all the way there with a little one screaming because his ear hurts? Yeah, totally not me!

I grew up in Germany and I was very accustomed to the Dr. making house calls, no 104 temp packing up and sitting in the Drs. office waiting your term and by chance catching the flu or pneumonia while waiting. I missed that and had longed for the US to offer house calls, you just don’t know how awesome it is when you can call a Dr at 2AM and he shows up at your doorstep within minutes, and you are on the road to recovery in no time.

Well, after 20 years in the US this has still bugging me that I have to pack up my kids as sick as they are and wait, but guess what… the wait is finally over! I’m excited, psyched to say the least that there is a new “Dr. in town” called Amwell.

Amwell is the answer to all my mommy prayers, to all my worries what if my kids get sick with a 104 at 2am on a Saturday night, no more worries because I know Amwell is by my side anytime, anywhere and 367 days 24/7. I’ve recently had to use the Amwell service for my daughter who actually was running 104 on a Saturday night at 2 AM and boy what a relief that I did not have to find a place to take her, or wait it out till the morning or even worse try to take her to the ER to see what was going on, I calmly told my husband to head back to bed I have this under control, I grabbed my iPad and sat next to my daughter and pulled up Amwell.com.

I quickly registered and since Amwell is accepted by most insurance companies I had no problem entering my information. But even if you don’t have health insurance, no worries, every visit at Amwell is only $49 per visit. All Amwell physicians are U.S. trained and board certified as well.

My regular primary care physician charges a starting rate (with my insurance plan) $179.00 for an adult and my pediatric office can start at $260 per visit with my insurance so we kind of think twice if we really have to go and see the Dr., but at $49.00 per visit I don’t mind at all “calling in”.

We had a pediatrician on call when I logged in for my daughter and within minutes, not hours or many phone calls to the receptionist later, was online with a real, live doctor who asked questions, assessed our situation and diagnosed my daughter and called a prescription into our local pharmacy that I was ready to pick up after the call.

It all literally took 15 minutes from the moment I found out that my daughter wasn’t well till I had a prescription called in and a Dr. seen and that in the middle of the night. How awesome is that? I was very happy and pleased with the service and love that I was able to connect with a Dr. from the comfort of my home while my daughter was resting.

I love this and really hope it becomes popular! It’s like the best of the old days (house calls) and the best of modern times (technology)!

This is such a good thing to have. I will have to remember this next time I get sick. I can tell the Doctor my symptoms and have the Doctor diagnose me and then I can get the medicine if needed. For $49 this is a big saving!

This means that people wouldn’t need to leave home. It would have been super fun to be able to live in the times when doctors made house calls as a regular part of their service. There would not be any waiting in long lines at the ER or the doctor’s office.
