We recently spent a weekend in Orlando to visit Disneyworld and a few other attractions. We are living so close anyways, but it is always easier if we grab a hotel for a few nights instead of driving back and forth. We tried to make it a little special for the kids since this would be the last Summer Fling. School is back in session, fall is quickly approaching and the Summer will come to an end.
I’ve shared a few times how much we enjoy finding places to eat with the Restaurant.com gift certificates and the App on the phone makes it super easy to find anything that is in your area. I didn’t even plan ahead where we would eat dinner or lunch I knew the Restaurant.com app has me covered.
So after a fun morning at Disney we decided it was time to head out of the parks and do some shopping, afternoon storms would soon roll in and I sure wouldn’t want to be caught in a Theme park when they start. Everyone wanted a treat at Disney but have you ever seen their prices? Yeah, I wasn’t about to pay that kind of sticker price for a few treats. I quickly pulled my phone and pulled up the restaurant.com app in anticipation to find a lunch/dinner restaurant when I found something totally different. I would have never thought about finding sweets on Restaurant.com. I was totally surprised and excited when I found “Cold as Ice”. A local ice-cream shop that wasn’t too far from us. I didn’t even ask the kids, wanted them to be surprised, picked my certificate purchased it all right then and there and the App even gave me directions to the place. 3
The kids had big eyes when we pulled into the parking lot, there is a Publix located next to the Cold as Ice place and at first they all had the sad face “ohhh we are going to Publix”… Lol, you all been there I’m sure. Well, once we actually walked up to the store, they all got excited! I was super surprised and super happy that I found this place through Restaurant.com, I would have never found it without the App nor would we have an affordable treat for all to enjoy!
Cold as Ice was a super fun ice-Cream place that had Snow cones! Believe it or not, I have never had a Snow cone so I was like a kid in a candy store, especially since I saw the many different flavors they had to offer from your standard Strawberry, raspberry and mango to Pickle juice and hot sauce and many more; I believe they had over 50 flavors.
My Teen decided on a Lime and a Margarita version and I would try the Raspberry one, my Princess was all about the Blue… Keep blue in mind.. Raspberry. I agreed and wasn’t thinking… NOOO I mean, I really wasn’t thinking until she started to eat!!!
Yeah… that’s why! Now what was I thinking? LOL… she had fun and loved making silly faces all the way through. Luckily for us I was able to find a restroom to clean her up, not after all the people in the adjacent Publix had a little chuckle seeing her. LOL ~ It was all good though. We were on vacation, in a different town and no one would ever know us…haha.
Besides the fun snow cones they also had frozen yogurt to mix and match yourself. Hubby and the other teen decided that was their treat of choice for the day and wen to town. Super excited they presented their flavors and creations. I’m sure you’ve seen these frozen yogurt shops before, super cool and they had fun.
Once we all made our selections I presented the cashier my certificate on the phone and we saved $5 of our purchase bringing our total to just under $15 for all 5 of us. Can’t beat a treat like that. I almost want to move to the neighborhood in Orlando to visit this place “Cold as Ice” often for an affordable treat.
We had fun and the best thing, Restaurant.com doesn’t always have to be for lunch or dinner,t hey have dessert options as well; just all depends what area you are in, so it is always good to check your app no matter where you are to find a little treasure and make your trip that much sweeter.
Did you know that Restaurant.com has been filling tables since 1999 and is the destination for dining whether you like to plan ahead or find a meal on the go.
