It’s almost graduation time at our house and although we won’t have a big party, since we are leaving for Germany. I decided to have a small family get together with close friends and family. I wanted something simple, yet different and thought about how the kids loved fruit juice when they were little. My soon to be graduate always loved the Kool-Aid juice drinks and I thought this would be a great way to walk down memory lane. Didn’t we all grow up with Kool-Aid? It always brings back memories for me. Well this year we will #KoolOff in Style with Kool-Aid.
Since graduation is only a few short weeks away, I decided to pick up some items at Walmart and see what I could prepare and get started for the party. I will be fairly busy between now and then so why not get a head start. As I walked the fruit juice aisle I found this big Kool-Aid face that caught my eye. It was on the front of a big bottle, by big I mean… really big bottle. I had never seen a 96oz. bottle of Kool-Aid!
I was super excited, because it was cheap, only $1.98 and they had Fruit Punch, a favorite in our home. I noticed they had the big Kool-Aid in 3 different flavor, Grape, Watermelon and then Fruit Punch. I knew I had to grab a few to make a special punch for the party and while I was there I also grabbed an orange powder Kool-Aid container, you never know when they come in handy. I found the 96oz. Kool-Aid in middle of all the other fruit juices out there. So keep your eye open!
I couldn’t wait to show my Teen what I found for his party and before he even came home, I had decided to throw together a punch and some cupcakes and would surprise him. It was super simple and it turned out amazing! Anyone can create something special with a few simple items. Trust me, you can do it, too!
This is what you need for the Fruit Punch kicked up a notch
- 1 96oz bottle of the New Kool-Aid, flavor of your choice
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lime, sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
- A Few fresh mint leaves
- 1 –2 liter bottle of sparkling water
- enough ice to fill your container
This is how to make your Fruit Punch kicked up a Notch
-
Fill your drink container of choice with ice cubes, about 3/4 full
-
Take your lemon, lime and orange slices and tuck them on the sides of the ice and inside the ice.
-
Take the fresh mint leaves and put inside the ice
-
Add your Kool-Aid fruit juice and sparkling water
-
You are ready to party!!!
It was super refreshing, delicious and perfect for any party, whether you have a Teen’s Birthday party or the big graduation party, this punch will be a hit. My Teens kept asking for more. A party wouldn’t be a party without some sweet treats. I had a box of white cupcakes in the cupboard and a can of frosting, I figured there had to be a way to flavor them up and quickly reached to the Kool-Aid Orange powder I had picked up at Walmart. Check out how my Orangesicle Cupcakes turned out… OMG!
This is what you need for the Orangesicle Cupcakes
- 1 Box of your favorite cake flavor ~ and all the ingredients needed per box direction
- 1/2 cup of Kool-Aid powder ~ Flavor of your choice
- 1 tub of frosting
How to make the Orangesicle Cupcakes:
- Prepare your Cake mix according to the package, mix the 1/4cup of Kool-Aid powder into your mixture and mix well.
- Pre-head and bake according to package directions
- Fill your cupcake pan, this made 16 middle size cupcakes.
For the Frosting:
Take the 1/4 cup of Kool-Aid powder mix and mix it under your frosting, wait till cupcakes are cooled off and decorated as desired.
Isn’t that simple? Boy, I’m loving the Kool-Aid flavor and super excited that I can bring the fruit juice flavor that the kids always loved into their graduation party. I ‘m also very pleased with the flavor the Kool-Aid powder left behind in the frosting. Very Orangey and tangy and the cupcakes had a hint of orange as well. It was perfect, not too sweet. The perfect sweet treat for a #KoolOff party this summer!
Thanks to Kool-Aid I’m ready for our graduation party and I can sit back and relax knowing that the 96oz bottle is already ready to use, no mixing no measuring and all I will do is toss the Fruit Punch together shortly before the party guest will arrive, can’t get any better than that!
The cupcakes can be prepared ahead so you won’t run around all crazy the day of your party, you actually get to enjoy it with your guests. Trust me, you want to be there when they Ohhh’ and Ahhh’s over your amazing Fruit Punch drink and cupcakes, sooo Gourmet worthy, that’s for sure.
