This was our second trip to this amazing Wildpark in Schweinfurt, Germany. Not only is this stunning park beautiful with over 50 different animals from all around the world on 44 acres and many different play areas from wooden swings, climbing and rock walls to even a water play area and many other things that will keep even the youngest ones busy for hours, no this park is also FREE, free as in no parking fee, no entrance fee, no nothing, at all. You can pack the family up and spend a day watching, feeding the animals, touching and exploring all for Free! Isn’t that amazing? We fell in love with this Wildpark during our last Germany trip and knew we had to come back for a second visit.
The park is solely being kept alive by local sponsors from companies as well as individuals to make this park family friendly and give every one a chance to explore nature and animals from around the world that would not be accessible any other way. I love that idea! The park first opened it’s doors in 1966 and has been going strong ever since, building and improving to make sure every child and every family can enjoy tis park. In 2016 the park will celebrate it’s 50th birthday with a BIG celebration and we hope to be there again to be part of this, it’s such a cool place to bring the family to, so be sure if you are ever in the area around Schweinfurt, Germany, this is a MUST see place, you will not regret it!
My family loved climbing and sliding on all the new additions that came up since we last visited the park just two short years ago, we couldn’t believe how much the park has changed already again in the 2 years and loved seeing the change. They are currently working on a fun project, building a farm so kids can see the farming process from start to finish including with a farm house and everything that will go with it, it was still in process but should be completed by the 2016 Birthday celebrations, I’m soo looking forward to this. A truly hands-on park experience for every child and family, you get up-close with so many animals that you would never see anywhere else. We saw Owls, deer’s even elks and storks as well as very common animals like bunnies and guinea pig, to name a few.
We spent an entire day there and could have spent another it was THAT much fun; they even have a water play area that is part of the park. The waterpark area is only open during the summertime, this time we had luck and the kids could enjoy it. So, if you visit the park during the dog days of summer, be sure to pack swimsuit and a towel and enjoy it, the kids had a blast! Besides the water play area they also have miniature golf for the older kids or a skate park, the skate park isn’t anything super major, but it’s fun and my teen brought his skateboard and was able to hang out there for a few hours on his own.
What an awesome park the City of Schweinfurt and all it’s Sponsors have created, can’t get any better then that and I have to admit, I’m a bit jealous and wish we had something like that in our area in Florida. This is truly amazing and beautiful. Can’t beat free and they have given their families and children a treasure that anyone who visits will remember for along time to come. we enjoyed our visit and will be back often and will talk about it for a long time to come as well.
Isn’t it amazing? I’m speechless… FREE!!!
