Ahhh, do you remember the day when you first brought home your fur baby? Maybe you are planning on bringing home a new family member soon. As a mom of 3 amazing fur babies we have our share of stories to tell on how messy things can get so stick around and found out a few tips and tricks on how to make life easier for everyone and in any event just keep thinking “Bounty got this!”.
When we first brought Charlie home, he was the first member of our Peanut Gallery almost 12 years ago, it was a challenge to say the least. He was our very first family pet and the kids never had an animal in the house and well, needless to say Charlie was a bit spoiled. Charlie decided he was the baby in the house and he was gonna let everyone know that HE will run the roost. From dumping his food out every single night to only using the kitchen floor as his permanent potty spot, he knew better but he still decided “look I do what I wanna do!”.
It wasn’t always easy, but looking back the last 12 years we have managed and learned to love his little quirks and thanks to the help of bounty he learned to actually walk outside the doggy door to potty outside instead of the kitchen. How you may ask… very easy, this is a great tip and has worked with the rest of the peanut gallery as well. I trained my babies to use a certain spot in the kitchen to pee on, not really on purpose but they decided especially Charlie, this was HIS spot! I used a lot of newspaper and some Bounty paper towels on top, since Bounty is more absorbent, a little went a long way and the roll can last 50% longer. He used that all the time and once he got used to them, I moved them closer and closer to the back door and eventually he ended up outside using the great outdoors and he hasn’t looked back.
Bounty was a great help in our potty training situation, always held up to the challenge and well, was always on our side for clean up as well. I must have gone through roll after roll some days, but cleanup was such a breeze with Bounty on my side.
Another task we use Bounty for all the time and still to this day is under the water and food bowl. It helps keep the mess at bay and can be easily switched out when a mess occurs. See, my Peanut Gallery is getting up there in age, Charlie will turn 12 this year, Snoopy will be 11 and our littlest member Woodstock will be 5 and no matter how old they get, they have an attitude with their food and love to dump the entire bowl all over the floor, thanks to Bounty that cleanup task is a lot easier and they will actually eat their food off the Bounty paper towel. Crazy, I know. That’s the little quirks you will learn your fur baby will have, too. That and many more, believe me.
Have you heard the story of Woodstock sitting in front of the washer waiting patiently for his toys to get done washing so he can help me move them into the drier and then wait another hour in front of the washer for them to finally get done? Yeah… He is crazy over his toys. The funny part once they are all done drying he pulls out each toy, one by one and plays with it for a few minutes before the next toy gets attention. He is a play baby for sure.
Puppies can be a lot of fun, but also a lot of responsibilities. Don’t let that discourage you, keep Bounty by your side and you will tackle every task. Years will go by like minutes and before you know it 10 years have past and you will giggle over the moments in the past and think “It wasn’t all that bad and why did they grow up so fast”.
5 Tips of what you need to bring home a new Puppy:
-
Get some blankets or towels to make a comfy sleeping and resting place for your new puppy; whatever it is get something that is washable and wash it weekly to keep clean.
-
Get a huge supply of Bounty paper towels to quickly clean up any unexpected messes from accidents to muddy paws and dumped food, Bounty will be by your side all the way. Since Bounty is 2X more absorbent you can tackle more pet messes per roll.
-
Get 4 small (or large depending on your puppy/dog) food bowls, that way you can always have clean ones on hand and wash the used ones. I was ours daily, do you want to eat out of dirty dishes? Why should your puppy?
-
Chew toys. Puppies love to chew and instead of using your favorite shoe or the corner of the room, get them to use chew toys and you will eliminate a lot of issues down the road. None of my babies ever tore up any of our shoes or clothes ever, so get them accustomed early to eliminate issues down the road.

Lots of patience and love! That’s a big one, don’t get mad, take a deep breath and tell yourself “ it will be ok” and then clean up after your puppy or dog and teach them HOW to do it different whether it be moving potty pads closer to where you need them to actually go potty or teaching them to use chew toys instead of shoes, it’s never easy but it will be a good thing in the long run. Most important, shower your puppy with lots of love, make them part of the family, show them you are their safe haven and they will give you 1000% of love in return.
See, who said you can’t teach an old dog a new trick, just don’t tell them it’s new and slowly adjust their behavior day by day. Keep Bounty nearby and it’s a great team for the future.
