With everything that has been happening over the years, it always amazes me that the major history events are egged into our brain and you, at least I know I’m, always remember who, where, what and when during an event. So I thought it would be fun to hear from my readers, where were you during big events? Do you remember? I know life has been busy and hectic and granted I don’t remember what we had for supper last night but I do remember these important things and will always remember them. As we add new memories you will still remember the old ones.
Where was I during…….
- Germany got united; the Berlin Wall Fell and the country was back to one. That was in 1989 and I was just 12 years old. It was a HUGE day back at home and a lot of celebration had been going on. We were in West Germany, but had family in the East and we knew how the circumstances in the East were; when the Wall finally fell it was a HUGE relieve and I remember I was in my mom and dad’s living room in front of the TV when the announcement came and in an instant car horns went honking and people started to flock the street and screaming and jumping for joy….BTW, did you know the famous words from John F. Kennedy “Ich bin ein Berliner” back in 1963, actually translated means ” I’m a doughnut”? The “Berliner” is a doughnut in German, and it’s soo yummy, it’s a jelly filled doughnut…*smile*

- Lady Diana’s Accident and her passing: I was in a military town in Arizona; I remember cleaning the house and listening to the TV when the announcement on CNN came, I was in shock and took my Toddler ( he’s my Teen now) and was in tears, I loved Lady Di and she was a wonderful person; that day will never be forgotten. August 1997

- 9/11 was by far the most impact, probly on all of us. I had just dropped of my Son ( the Teen) at Kindergarten and took my Toddler ( now my Tween) home to get ready for the gym; we saw the entire thing, like so many of us, unfold on TV. The minute they announced that a plane hit the trader center I knew we are at war; it was a weird feeling; I called my husband and told him it wasn’t over, I was online talking to family and friends, even some military people and it was a horrible day, all I wanted was to grab my boys and never let go…… the rest is history, we all know.. and this day will never be forgotten and will always be a BIG part in History

- Space Shuttle Columbia: I was in Florida at the time, just getting ready for my Shift at Domino’s when my husband and I watched the shuttle come home, all the sudden it looked different and we all knew something went wrong, watching the entire thing live had quit the impact. Feb. 2007

-
Royal wedding of Prince William and Kate: I watched the ceremony with my Toddler in my lap; my Toddler was all excited to see a Princess and both of us had Mother-daughter bonding time; to my surprise my toddler set there the entire time while yet another history step has been made. I will always remember my Toddler looking at me and telling me ” Mommy, please, don’t get married”….. April 2011

The news came for Osama Bin Laden’s death: I was on the couch, half asleep when my alarm and TV came on at 5AM, one eye open and one eye shut I hear the news that Bin laden has been killed, I thought it was a joke… and jumped up and went on the PC, I did not have to go far to find out that this was a FACT!!!!! May 2011 * GOD BLESS AMERICA* and a HUGE THANK YOU to our Troops!!!!!

These are things that I remember and will never forget….. now it’s your turn, what do you remember or what had the biggest impact in your life ??
