It’s HOT in central Florida and my Boys are drinking me out of house and home. I have filtered water and encourage them to drink as much filtered water or water in general.
But as most kids their age, Soda is a drink of choice. The Toddler hasn’t gotten any soda so far, and she doesn’t care for it either. She will tell you” It’s Bubba’s drink, not mine”.
I’m concerned with the Sugar intake from the Sodas and decided to switch it up a bit; We went to Walmart this morning to pick up a few things, so I was determined to find something else the kids could drink.
First we had our Sunday stop at the local Gas station, because the Sunday Newspaper is only $.50; hubby grabbed a few. Remember…. Always buy your Sunday newspaper for the coupons and always buy in multiples of 2!!!!
Okay, our next step was Murphy USA; we needed gas but it was $.05 cheaper at Murphy’s so we pulled in on our way to Walmart. After we filled up the car it was time to check out Walmart.
Our Walmart recently went through a HUGE remodel project and they changed everything around, added new products and it just look completely different. I haven’t been since they finished the remodel, so we spend some extra time strolling the store.
Finally we arrived in the Water Isle, I had no idea that they had such a HUGE selection of flavored water. They had different brands and different prices; Being the cheapo Mom, that you already know me to be , I looked for the cheapest on the shelve. To my surprise the Clear American Water ( is a Walmart Brand Sparkling Flavored water) ended up to be the cheapest. You can get 1L bottles for $.64 in a variety of flavors from Mandarin Orange, Lemon Lime and even Black Cherry and many more.
I grabbed a few bottles to try and we went towards the Car Section, we also know they car department is the cheapest and grabbed a few things we needed for an oil change and then the toddler decided she wanted some Breakfast, so off to the Doughnut Isle we went. It was a lot of fun, anything and everything you needed is available at Walmart.
Time to go home and switch out our Soda’s with the Clear American Sparkling water and see how the kids will react. The Tween went shopping with us, but he has no idea that his Soda will be moved out of the Fridge… SHHHH don’t tell. I can’t wait the Teen’s face when he sees the water in the place of the Soda.
Once we got home I moved the Soda out and replaced it with the Clear American Sparkling water; and waited for the kids to get a drink….
First one needing a drink was the Tween… I told him to grab something out the fridge. He was looking for the Soda and couldn’t believe I had none in the Fridge.
I finally convinced him to just taste the Clear American Sparkling Water and he was pleasantly surprised. My Tween said “This is awesome, I drink this over Soda ANYDAY Mom…”. My Tween loved it… I couldn’t believe it.
Let’s wait for the Teen to get a drink and see what his reactions are……..Finally, the Teen woke up; we all know that Teen’s sleep forever. The first thing my Teen does is walk to the fridge to grab a Soda, imagine is reaction when he couldn’t find any Soda.
I informed him to just grab a water until I can ran to the Store and pick up some Sodas. He wasn’t happy with my answer, but took a bottle anyways…
So, what do you think the boys said.. did they like it or not?? Go check out our MY This Moment Story below to find the answer.

I learned years ago from some medical article or such that caffeine-free diet soda is the equivalent to drinking water. The cons to this is the price and that the acid in the soda corrodes the enamel off of teeth in turn destroying them in the end, which I can attest to from drinking massive amounts of soda through the years. Since I can’t give up soda, we stock up on it when it’s on sale for $.99 or less for a 2-liter bottle.
We stock up on bottled water when it’s on sale real, real cheap. I also stocked up on a bunch of those Crystal Light singles when Publix had a BOGO sale on them, and we combined coupons with them. We got them dirt cheap. 🙂 I love the pink lemonade!

I think it’s hilarious that your tween and teen loved it after their understandable disappointment about you taking away their soda pop! The stuff is really good though!
