Interactive Story Buddy Jingle from Hallmark {Review}

October 30, 2011 By Melanie Roberts 31 Comments

Just in time for Christmas, hallmark released a wonderful Story Buddy, his name is “jingle”. I’m super excited to introduce you to Jingle and his adventures. This cute little Husky is cuddly and lovable just like his Story Buddy pals. Jingle comes with an interactive book called “Jingle All the Way”.

This cute Husky pup is just the perfect pal to guide your little ones through the Holidays. His story book talks about being a good little pup. Jingle loved to interact with his friends, the Kids, but what made him sad was when everyone left and he was all alone. He was such a good pup, never made a mess, never woke anyone up with his bark and all he had was his friends, he wanted someone that never left him and made him a comfy home. He searched and searched and got tired of searching and decided to rest; when all the sudden someone ( could it be Santa?) picked up the sweet little pup and the next thing the Pup remembered, he woke up under a comfy warm, Christmas tree with a little boy… his HOME!…

What a sweet Christmas story, I loved the book, it’s just so heartwarming and holding Jingle in your arm while reading the story and have him interact with you and your little one makes this all to real. Just a wonderful addition to the hallmark Interactive Story Buddies Series; my Toddler loved it as much as I did and we couldn’t get enough of Jingle. He always has a funny bark or a song ready to go. My Toddler loved hearing the different barks Jingle had waiting for us, some are happy, some are sad and sometimes he barks a song… totally cute.

Another thing I love about ALL the interactive Story Buddies, they all come with their very own iPad/iPhone App. This is a FREE download with lots of interactive games, and even stories. Your Interactive Buddy will interact with your little one through the iPhone or iPad. My Toddler loves to play the games and puzzles and listens to the story while Jingle interacts, if I’m too busy to read the book to her. LOTS of fun and this being a FREE App definitely a welcome addition to this already wonderful Interactive Story Buddy.

For more information, be sure to check out Interactive Buddies on Hallmark.com, follow on Facebook or on Twitter. Each Interactive Story Buddy can be purchased at a Hallmark Store near you and retails for $29.99.

Make sure to read our review about Cooper the Bear and Abigail the Bunny.

UPDATE

UPDATE:  1/10/2012
I received a number of e-mails and comments regarding the Jingle being defective and readers wanting to know what to do or how to get help. I’ve contacted Hallmark directly and received following e-mail on January 10, 2012. I hope this will help one or the other reader in deciding on what to do with their Jingle in the unfortunate event that your Jingle may be defective.

We are sorry to learn that your Jingle the Husky Pup Interactive Storybook Buddy is no longer operating properly.  Please accept our apology for any inconvenience.  Jingle has been very popular and unfortunately has sold out very quickly in many stores.  We encourage you to review your receipt for specific store return policies and contact the store where Jingle was purchased to determine if there are replacements available.

If you did not purchase Jingle at a Hallmark Gold Crown Store, you may be able to return the product at other similar locations (same store name).

We can also provide a list of Corporate owned stores near you who will be able to provide a refund or exchange Jingle for a different product (if they are currently out of stock).

We understand this has created an additional hassle for you and we are truly sorry.

In case you need more info you can contact Hallmark:

UPDATE : December 11, 2012

A wonderful reader just tole me that her Jingle wasn’t working this year and she contacted the 1800 (see above) and was instructed to take her “last year defective (2011) Jingle to the nearest Hallmark location for an exchange with this years (2012) Model; She was instructed by the Hallmark rep to let the store owner know that she had contacted the 1800 number and was instructed to return it for an exchange. So when in doubt, call the 1800 number and hopefully this will solve a lot of the “broken” Jingle issues.

I received the product listed above for our honest review; all opinions are 100% our own and no other compensation was nor will be received;

    How did your Jingle hold up? Ours stopped working correctly the 2nd day. The programming seemed to get into a loop and turn itself off & on by itself. Change batteries did not reset it. We are taking it back, and will see what the store/company does for us.

    Ours too broke only a few days after Christmas. Any word from Hallmark on your end? They refuse to do anything about it for us. We also have a “Cooper” and he has held up fine so far.

    My daughter loves her Jingle so much! We used it all through December 2011 and we just got it out of the attic for this year. Jingle worked fine for about a week and now he won’t turn on. I am devastated! My sister-in-law bought Bell this year so they could talk together. We never got the chance to try it out. 🙁

    Bought Jingle for my daughter. Worked great for a while then stopped working. Changed the batteries and still won’t work. We loved the lil pup and books, just wish it had worked for longer than it did.

    We have 2 Jingles that my boys received as gifts last Christmas (2011), and when I pulled them out to change their batteries this morning, neither one of them worked. I called the 800 number and they told me that all the Jingles that were purchased last year, could be taken to any Hallmark store and exchanged out for this year’s model. They told me to just tell the store that I had call Hallmark and that is what they told me to do. I live an hour away from the closest Hallmark so I called there just to check and they are holding 2 for me until I can get there this weekend.

    My son’s jingle is also not working! We read with him a few times last year and since he loved it do much we purchased this years book and movie as one of his Christmas gifts. We also bought my newly born son Nugget so he would have a interactive pet as well. With everything being crazy with the holidays we haven’t had a chance to get him out and use him. My son asked if he could watch the video with his jungle. I got him out and now won’t work! I don’t know what to do! I changed the batteries and still nothing! I’m bummed out especially since my sister purchased the girl one so they can play together with my son and her. Any recommendations?

      kayla.. ohh sooo sorry to hear that.. Check in my blog post a few readers have mentioned that they were told by Hallmark when calling their 800# to return the broken Jingle to the store and they will replace it. It may be worth a shot. Mine is still working.. sorry I wasn’t much more help 🙁 but call the 800 number they should be able to help since they knwo there must have been issues with last years Jingle (2011)

    We got our daughter Jingle back in 2011 and then Bell last year. Both still work great. They just aren’t compatible with the new books. Clearly Hallmark knew this was going to happen, so people will have to buy two new interactive pups. Well these parents right here aren’t!! That will be the last product like this we get from them.

    We replace “Cooper” the bear 2 times within two years. The story buddy was a gift from a grandparent, so we never had a receipt. As long as they were in stock, the local Hallmark store was willing to replace. The third bear has now stopped working. I called Hallmark customer service. Cooper is no longer in production so Hallmark sent me a gift card to cover the replacement cost of a new story buddy. I have also found a video on youtube explaining how to solder wires back together to fix the story buddy.

    My son was given the Jingle and Bell double feature video. It didn’t play at all — kept skipping and stopping. We cleaned it. Still no good. So we bought another one. THIS one doesn’t play either. Same problems — it looks clean and box was sealed. But horrible quality. We tried in DVD player and computer. They are both completely defective. Hallmark seems to have issues with quality control. Unfortunately I can’t get through to Hallmark now since the recording says closed for holidays.

    How did the stuffed animal himself hold up? We just received one for my 18-month-old (my aunt bought it after Christmas last year, I think) and I’m not so worried about the “voice” as the actual animal. He seemed to want to carry Jingle around everywhere today and it doesn’t seem like it’s well-made enough to be THE lovey animal. I’m hoping he won’t notice if I put Jingle away for a few days, redirect him towards some more sturdy stuffed animals.

Just to see my daughter all happy and excited that her pups where going to bark again because I got her new batteries so I can see her broken it tears after, broke my heart.
